Power supply missing for a JV649 Jensen Multi-Input AV/RF Modulator

I own a JV649 unit, but the power supply for the unit appears to have disappeared during a recent move. The back of the unit says it takes a 12V input, but doesn't specify what amperage it requires. Does anyone have the specs for this unit so I know which replacement power supply to buy?

  • heuettm May 26, 2008

Never mind, I finally found the specs for the power supply:

    Model #DV-1215-3508
    PN # MO212-01/JV649
    INPUT: 120VAC 60Hz
    OUTPUT: 12VDC 150mA
    CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER

On the Dynex? - RF Modulator AV Signal Converter, the RCA plugs on the back, are they input or output?

Input. The intent is to convert Composite Video, S-video and audio from newer devices to old TV's that only have RF (antenna) inputs.

I'm trying to hookup my Toshiba DR430KU to an older tv that require an RF Modulator. I get a skewded sideways picture. Does This DVDR compatable with a RF Modulator?

Probably not. Better picture results are achieved with either S-Video, standard RCA AV cable (yellow-white-red), or YUV component cable (red-green-blue) (component output does not have audio - this requires extra cable to be connected). The video via either one of these 'AV' connections is stunning (based on a standard 16:9 LCD TV using a Panasonic DVD recorder).

RF tends to be lower quality - as opposed to AV/digital input. AV input/YUV component handles digital better. No one connects their DVD devices to their TV via RF (either directly to the antenna socket or with a modulator/attenuator) anyway. Because a VCR is mostly analogue, it will work fine with an RF connection, but DVD is digital, and so won't work as well, if at all.

RF also goes through the tuner in a TV, creating cross-interference, whereas AV is a direct input and is separate to the tuner.

I would say an RF modulator would not be designed to handle the output frequency that your DVD device generates. Throw the modulator out, or perhaps get another TV, or use RCA cables instead if the TV has AV inputs. Whichever is cheaper and easier, but don't use RF accessories except a standard antenna if/as required.

Can i hook up a dvd player to it and if so what cord do i need?

Standard DVD players cannot be connected to this TV because it does not have an AV input. It has only RF input. So you will have to buy an AV to RF Modulator (converter) to connect a DVD player.

I dont understand how to plug the gamecube into the televison or the dvd player?

Quick Tip! If your system is connected using AV cables or the Component Video cable and you cannot see the game on your screen, it is likely all you need to find is the input select on your TV or VCR. Link here for help.
If this is your first time connecting your system, we strongly suggest you verify your hookup before continuing with the blank screen troubleshooting.
Are you using any accessories that didn't come with your system? Unlicensed products are not fully compatible and may not work correctly.
With the power ON, open the Disc Cover, remove the Game Disc, close the Disc Cover and turn the power OFF and then ON. If the Main Menu appears, your disc may be damaged or dirty.
Check your system connections and ensure they are all firm and correct:

Stereo AV cable
Remove the plugs and reinsert them with a slight twisting motion. Make sure that you are plugging the yellow cable into the video input. Also ensure that your audio cables (red and/or white) are plugged into the audio input jacks on your TV or VCR.
Component Video Cable
Remove the plugs and reinsert them with a slight twisting motion. Make sure that you are plugging the green plug into the green input (labeled Y), the blue plug in the input (labeled Pb or Cb) and the red plug into the red input (labeled Pr or Cr). Ensure that your audio plugs (red and white from the Stereo AV cable) are plugged into the audio input jacks associated with the component input jacks and that the yellow plug is hanging, and not plugged in.

Check to see if the game you are playing is set to progressive scan mode. If it is, try changing it to interlace mode. To do this, load the game disc into the system and hold down the B Button of the controller while turning on the system.

RF Switch/Modulator
Try switching both the TV and modulator to either channel 3 or 4. Also, try disconnecting the antenna from the RF Switch.

Common Solution: For RF connections, we find that video problems occur most often when an unlicensed RF switch and modulator set are used. Make sure your RF switch and modulator set are two different pieces and the name "Nintendo" is molded onto the RF switch and modulator. If your RF modulator is one piece or is black and it says "for use with Nintendo" it is an unlicensed product. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with our systems and may not work correctly.
Adjust the vertical or horizontal hold controls. This is helpful even if regular TV stations come in fine. If your TV has an automatic fine tuning control (called AFC or AFT), turn it OFF. Use the manual fine tuning dial to adjust the picture. If turning OFF the AFC/AFT causes your TV to display in black and white, then leave the AFC/AFT ON. Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the ON position, while the Control Deck remains ON, turn the TV off for 10 second then back on again. This resets your AFC/AFT so that it will tune in the signal from the Control Deck.

Move your Control Deck farther away from your TV. If the Control Deck is too close to the TV, the Control Deck may cause some interference.

If you're using the AV cables or Component Video Cables, verify that your TV or VCR is on the correct the input select.
If your TV has a closed captioning option, make sure that it's turned off.
Check the game manual to see if the game has any special features that might appear as a problem.
There may be a problem in one of your hookup cables and not your system. Try purchasing a new connection cable (where to buy). You can also try borrowing the cable from a friend to see if it solves your problem before purchasing a new item.
If these steps do not resolve the symptoms you are experiencing with your system, check out our convenient repair options.

I am trying to connect a DVD player to a RCA F25216BC 25" TV - the TV only has an F type Coax connector and does not have a CH 3 or 4 switch - I put the input from the wall to the DVD player and out to the...

Your TV must be equipped with AV inputs (RCA jacks - yellow, white, red)
in order to connect this unit. If your TV does not have AV inputs, you will need a RF Modulator to connect the DVD recorder to your TV's
antenna/cable input. RF Modulators are available at
major electronics retailers such as Radio Shack or Wal-Mart and allow the 3 RCA outs from the recorder to connect to the RF modulator RCA inputs and then you can connect a coaxial cable from the modulator to the TV RF input and select channel 3 or 4 on the TV. The DVD recorder will not pass thru signals to the TV using coaxial cable as far as DVD are concerned.

Need directions to install a dch70 box to tv

dear woolifer ,
I am not an expert but i hope i can help you..
is it youmean digital cablebox?
if it is try this-

This is a problem a lot of people have with coaxial-only televisions because DVD players do not have coaxial (RF) outputs, which means they can't be connected directly into a television with only a coaxial (RF) input. The solution is to purchase a RF modulator, which is a small device that will convert the AV output from the DVD player to coaxial (RF).
As for the instructions, I am going to assume the DVD player is not a combo unit with the VCR, and that you want to record TV on your VCR. Step 4 will include connecting your DVD player, but if the DVD player is a combo unit with the VCR, just ignore step 4 part as DVD connection will be included in the VCR set up. Actually, you wouldn't need the RF modulator if it is a VCD/DVD combo unit.
  1. Connect the coaxial cable coming out from the wall to your digital cable box in the ‘video in’ slot. It might also be labeled ‘antenna in’ or ‘cable in’.
  2. From the cable box, connect a coaxial or composite (yellow video cable) and stereo (red-white) RCA audio cables to the VIDEO IN terminal on your VCR.
  3. From the VCR, you will have to connect this to the RF Modulator using a coaxial cable from the VIDEO OUT on the VCR to one of the IN ports on your RF modulator.
  4. You can now connect your DVD player to the RF Modulator by using the yellow-red-white composite/RCA cables from the VIDEO OUT on the DVD player to another port on the RF modulator.
  5. From the RF modulator, connect this unit to your TV by using a coaxial cable. It will be from the VIDEO OUT on the RF modulator to the VIDEO IN or CABLE or ANTENNA IN port on your television.
This should be all you need to get started watching your digital television. In simple terms here is what you did:
Coaxial from wall to cable box
Cable box to VCR
VCR to RF modulator
DVD player to RF Modulator
RF modulator to TV
You will only be able to record what is on channel
