My camera extends, but the opening that covers the lens won't open. Just a pinhole of light is getting through. ideas? cristine
Sounds like something has contaminated the protective shutter.
any idea what?
If its something sticky like coke then its unlikely to cause further damage, but if its grit or sand I wouldn't keep trying to open it as it may scratch the lens.
I don't specificly know this camera but have have had experience on many like it.
Basically the shutter needs removing, usually this involves removing the trim surrounding the lens which is usually held on with double sided tape but can be very well held on and the surround easily damaged then the shutter is often clipped in or held in with a couple of tiny screws.
It can then be removed and washed with isopropyl alcohol.
If its not something you would want to attempt yourself a good camera shop that offers repairs should be able to help.
although if the lens is contaminated with sand or grit, eventually it may work its way into the gearbox and jam the lens..
best of luck

My lens flopped open and shut by just tipping the camera from side to side. Now it just remains open all the time. Not a good situation. It was a great little camera but not any more.
