Turns off by itself!!!

The tv will turn off by itself while watching a program. It makes a loud noise. You can sometimes turn the tv back on but it will do the same thing again. Other times it will not come back on. You have a black screen. when i turn the tv on, it immediately turns itself off

I have a RCA TruFlat Model: 20F424T, it is less then 6-months old, and it just started powering off and then turning itself back on 2 days ago.  I have unplugged it for 8 hours to try and reset the factory defaults, and that did not seem to help.

My TV is only 11/2 years old and keeps turning itself off???? What can I do to fix this problem????

  • jtstorm62 Oct 30, 2008

I have the same problem. My 19" RCA TruFlat is not even a year old yet. I feel RCA should fix this problem, at no cost to the consumer.

RCA 24 inch tube TV. Less that a year old. When I had this problemm before on a RCA, a fellow soldered all the pinholes in the main module and the TV still works today. That was 12 years ago. If i replace the flyback transformer, can you guarantee it will really fis the problem.

I have an RCA t.v., the model number is 20f514TD. The problem is that my dvd player inside the t.v. stopped working. Now every time I turn on the t.v. it shuts off on it's own and turns on by itself.

My olevia 237-t11 turns off by its self and sometimes makes a loud screcheen noise

Sounds like either the main or display power supply is failing. Might consider a new TV. Parts could be found but it might be hard to find them.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its 'Mute' circuit. Contact any service technician. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

My tv turns off by itself and makes a clicking noise

Most likely it has some bad capacitors in the power supply. Flat--panel sets are VERY hard on capacitors, due to the fact that the "rising heat' from the set "cooks" the caps and they fail VERY early.

Static on screen and then turns itself off then on

My first aproach will be to see if the tv reacts to tap on the sides if you see a reaccion when you do it most likely you have a loose conection and need to call someone to find it and resoldered it.Dont do it yourself if you dont know how.
