You have to go through couple of steps from the wireless computer
1.make sure that you are connected wireless to your network 2.check the ip address of computer (in command prompt - type ipconfig - make sure it comes under the same range when it is wired) 3.if you find the right ip address try to do ping here the commands are - type it in the same w/l computer cmd window
----1>ping default gateway number (ping 192.168.x.x) *** if u find replies good else just try to unplug and restart everything
-----2>ping any web address (ping www.yahoo.com) *** if you find any 4 replies from a ip address - everything fine in your computer - its the web browser not working
----3>ping an ip address (ping 98.137.149.56) **** if you find 4 replies its a DNS issue on wireless adapter else wireless router (W/L part) need to be reconfigured

I am trying to connect a wrt150n wireless linksys router to my dsl. I am using a desktop windows 7 and laptop windows vista. Please help, I have tried everything but it just does not want to work.

unplug everything, including ethernet cables. then work in this exact order.
if you get a wireless signal and no internet, plug a computer in into the router in one of the available ports and check for internet. If no internet, unplug everything and test the modem without the router. If internet available without the router, then follow these instructions
  1. plug phone line into modem
  2. plug power into modem
  3. wait for all lights to become steady
  4. plug ethernet cable into modem
  5. plug other end of same cable into port labled "internet"
  6. wait for lights to become constant on both router and modem
  7. check your wireless device for wireless service.
if you dont get a wireless signal at all, plug your device into the rear of the router and type 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar
the password and username are both "admin" or simply leave the password blank if that doesn't work

navigate to the wireless option and turn on the wireless transmiter.
GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!!!!!!

Linksys router will not connect with motorola 2210 modem

Your problem may be timing.

Make sure you have all your cables connected correctly.

Do not have power to either the modem or router.

Plug in you modem and watch the lights go to work. Wait for them to settle down. Now plug in your router, again watching the lights. It should work now.

You can download Linksys' LELA program to monitor the network. Shows green lines to your computers, etc. when working and red lines when not. It will also give your status and make suggestions if you loose your connection.

Good Luck

This is dumb

Well, first things first, try unplugging the power on your modem and router. While you wait the 15-20 seconds needed to clear the devices memories.. make sure the modems ethernet cable is plugged into the WAN or Internet port of the router. Then go ahead and take the ethernet cable from computer 1 and put it in port 1 of the router. Then take computer 2's ethernet cable and plug it into port 2 of the router. Now that you have made sure all the cables are in correctly, take the power cord for your modem and plug it back into the modem. Wait until all the lights are in thei "ready" status. Once they are all lit in ready status, plug the power cord for your router in. Let those lights get to the ready status as well. Once thats done, test your connection. If there is still no result, do the following on each computer: Go to Start>Run type cmd in the dialogue box, you should now have a black window with a blinking cursor, type " ipconfig /release " wait for it to give you the blinking cursor once again and confirm that the list states 0.0.0.0 for each of the items. Then type " ipconfig /renew " What this will do is tell your computer to get rid of its old ip that it had with your modem and search for its new one that the router will assign. The new ip will resemble 192.168.0.100 or 192.168.0.101 depending on which computer you are on. Either way, thats the way its supposed to look. if this action is completed successfully, you should have an active internet connection and you can be on your way. :) good luck !

Belkin router

I just worked on one of these today. Try this and see if it helps.

1. Unplug your cable or DSL modem and your wireless router

2. Plug back in the cable or DSL modem and wait for the internet to successfully connect (watch the lights).

3. Plug the wireless router back in again and wait for it to connect (again, watching the lights)

If this doesn't work, make sure you have the equipment plugged-in in the right order.

cable or dsl signal goes to modem ==> modem plugs into wireless router ===> computer plugs into wireless router.
