If the front panel does not even light up, then you do not enevn has the standby 5vdc working at all. Power supply module will be the first place to look.

Check to see if there is any object between the TV and the remote control
causing obstruction.
Are batteries installed with correct polarity (+ to +, - to -)?
Correct remote operating mode set: TV, VCR etc.?
