I have a new Sanyo 42" HD Plasma PDP42XR9DA television and ever since i have started using it, which is June 2010, the volume control on the tv or the remote doesn't work all the time. This has been happening around once a week and i have to turn the television off and then it works properly again when i turn it back on. When it does this, the mute button also does not work properly as it stays on mute. When the television is turned on, it is really loud and when i try to turn it down i can't either on the tv itself or the remote. It has started now to do this more frequently. Please help resolve this matter for me.

I would start by trying other codes on the universal remote. Sometimes codes will only work part of the remote such as the numbers or channels but not volume. Your motorola cable remote sounds like it may only need a good cleaning. sometimes when you take remotes apart it will look like somthing got spilt in it. I would start there first.

It sounds as if you have inadvertently selected the 'Aux' function. Pressing the 'TV' button (should be close to the Aux and others) should restore full control.
Since the volume generally means 'TV Volume,' this function often stays effective but the other controls will not respond, including 'Power.'

This happens to us all the time with our Dish remote which also has 4 basic functions.

sanyo recommends using the reset button with cable box on, vcr off and press the reset button 2x, then try pressing channel up button if no message appears on the screen. i have not trid it yet... but good luck
