Vivitar ViviCam 3915 Digital Camera Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 04, 2010

I just bought a Vivitar ViviCam T027 camera. The manual says it will accept sd cards up to 32 gb. My question is, will this camera accept the newer sdhc cards, or only the standard sd cards?

Hi there

Funny, I recently bought the exact same model. The answer to your question is simple (that's the good news!)

A long time ago, when these small SD Cards first appeared, they were limited in capacity from 128 Megabytes (MB) to a maximum capacity of 2 Gigabytes (GB).

To enable the same size card to store a greater capacity, a new specification had to be created. This new spec. was SDHC, and allowed the cards to store from 4 GB up to 32 GB.

The confusion arises because people still refer to all these cards as 'SD cards' when the higher capacity cards should really be called 'SDHC' cards.

Your camera will accept standard SDHC cards. Just make sure you don't order 'mini' cards which are much smaller in dimension.

Hope this clears up the confusion.

SD cards do not go to 32GB. If your camera manual says it will accept cards up to 32GB, it is referring to SDHC cards. My question is , unless you are shooting a movie for a Hollywood producer, why would you need a 32GB card?

When i put a sd card in my vivicam T027 it says the card is full

What kind of card is it? If it's an SD card, try sliding the little slider on the side of it to unlock it, so it's not read-only

Need make model of sd card for vivitar vivcam 3188

It is compatible with any brand of SD card up to 1 Gb size. To look at the brand/model of your SD card, open your camera, remove the SD card and check the labels. It doesn't have it's own brand of SD card, so depending where you bought it, the store can just put any brand of SD card into it.

I had the same problem with the camera I bought my husband for Christmas. Long story short when I called the tech support number they told me I had to buy a brand new sd card at least 2gb to make it compatible and that it cannot be one used from another camera. So I am going to go buy one brand new to see if it makes a difference. If not I will be calling again.

Remove the card from its slot, try to clean the card slots terminal connector. a small cotton buds with alcohol would be enough. Make sure to set the lock of the card to open position. Insert the card to its slot and open the camera to see if the message disappeared.

You can use any SD or SDHC card. The brand doesn't really matter, as long as you stick with the major brands. The speed doesn't matter either, though a faster card might download faster if you use a card reader.

You should be able to find SD and SDHC cards at any department, electronics, or office-supply store. Many drugstores and supermarkets also carry them.
