Fisher and Paykel GWL 11 is getting the error code 37. Checked for blockages, none found and pump operates normally, no sounds, impeller turns freely. Still will not drain in spin mode. Any suggestions?

Hi just read your posting.Try this,Put a couple of books under each foot of the machine high enough so you can look under the machine at the pump. Now select a spin mode and push the start button.Does the pump turn on its own?Where is your machine draining the water to,Is it into the laundry sink or some place else. Please reply with this additional information and this will help me in diagnosing this fault for you.Looking forward to your reply.

Pump drains out the back into an assigned washer drain.

The machine is propped up, there is a bit of rust on the pump and a new one is on order, although not fully convinced this is the problem.

The pump begins to spin and then stops.

Everything has been taken apart and no blockages found. Even used a bottle brush to get way up to check and clean.

Hi just read your posting.Error code 37 means pump block Error,But if the pump is not the cause then the control module will be the cause. The only way to verify this is to fill the machine then advance the cycle to spin.Once the water is drained or the pump stops draining check the ohms resistance of the windings of the pump, which should be about 34 ohms, and also check if the pump is getting hot as the pump has a thermal cut out in the windings which will shut the pump down. Please reply if you need help in the testing of the pumps winding.Looking forward to your reply.

Code 37 -

Hi,

To my knowledge, Error Code 37 on a Fisher & Paykel machine refers to "drain fault" which could either mean that the drain valve will not open or that the drain pump will not run. The easiest user intervention that could be performed is to check for any blockage/clog at the drain filter, drain pipe, drain pump impeller and drain valve.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I ran the diagnostic on my fisher and paykel gwl 11 and it has a fault code 51. Is that more than just a diverter value?

This is error code 51
51. (00110011) Phase 5 and 6 Eco - Diverter Valve Fault
Primary: The motor controller has registered a drop in water level in the
recirculation phase of the wash cycle, water is being drained instead of recirculated.
Or water has been sprayed onto the Valve from an external source and caused the
solenoid to blow.
Action:
Turn the power off at the machine but leave the power on at the wall, then measure
the voltage across the terminals of the wax actuator, if a reading of 230V is
achieved the motor controller has failed due to the valve and both will need to be
replaced.
Secondary: Check for blockage in the valve itself or a broken hinge mechanism.

Replace fisher paykel iwl 16 mother board with gwl 11 motherboard

I cannot find your mothers IWL16 model, but I have found various similar machines that are the same phase as your GWL11 machine, the electronics in there although different are compatible, you can swap the drain pumps, there almost universal, avoid the drive shaft machine, fix the other one If you want further help, post a photo of both pcb's (the electronics) After swapping your machine will stil require programming which is simple enough

Fisher Paykel Model IW812. Service Code 37 is appearing, what does this mean?

Error code 37 is pump blocked (or faulty) 'No change in water level.' Most likely you have a blocked or faulty pump motor (Not uncommon with F&P)
Thw pump motor is accessable from under the machine.
NOTE.. The machine must be empty before attempting this job.
TIP.. Lean machine back against the wall to contain the last of the water.
Make sure the 'latch' is unclipped to remove the pump motor. Turn anticlockwise to remove
Remove wires..
Check that the drain hole has nothing to prevent the impeller from turning.
Check that the pump motor turns freely..
Blow through the drain hose (from the basin end) to make sure there is no blockage..
Replace in reverse order..
If the problem persists you may need a new pump motor. These are normally checked for resistance. F&P say to replace if less than 33 ohm.
Good luck....Nomess

Screen has code 37 on it

Hi, welcome!
Code 37 is a "pump blocked error" code. Typically this code is triggered when the machine does not sense a change in the water level when called for. Check for debris caught in the pump, either in the impeller for moving water or in some cases, the external cooling fan impeller (exposed underneath the machine) gets snagged with a piece of fabric softener sheet (such as "bounce") and this will stall the pump and trigger a code 37.

I hope you find this info useful and thanks for using Fixya.

Machine saying service Code 37

That code is a PUMP BLOCKED ERROR.
This could be as simple as an object caught in the pump or it could be the pump itself has failed. I often see objects caught in the pump. If you can do so safely, unplug the machine, tip the machine back enough to be able to see underneath, and look for the electric pump. You will see a back impeller for cooling the motor windings. Try and turn this by hand, it should turn easily. If it will not turn, then you know there is something keeping it from turning. Be aware that if you pull that pump out with water in the tub, you are going to have a tremendous mess.

You might want to get yourself a service manual for that washer. You can get them from Fisher Paykel Parts:

Hope this helps.
