Sony KDF-E60A20 60 in. LCD HDTV Logo
Posted on Oct 04, 2010

I have a Sony KDF-E60A20 tv that the picture and sound go out for about 30 seconds every few minutes. The green power light and the fan remain on and there are no flashing lights either on the power light or lamp light. Any idea what could be wrong?

can anyone post where or how we go about checking the bulk as mine is doing this

  • Anonymous Dec 04, 2010

Well you can extract it, it is really very easy. I got a bulb for around 135 bucks with the plastic mounting, it took all of 10 minutes and the picture is great.
If the TV has the same symptoms, just replace the bulb.

THIS IS HOW I FIX MY SONY TV WITH FIVE BLINKING RED POWER LIGHT.

PULL OUT LAMP - FIND THE INSTRUCTION ON LINE (SONY WEBSITE OR YOUTUBE) EASY

THERE ARE TWO METAL CONNECTION TABS (on top of the lamp) ON THE LAMP. CLEAN THESE TWO METAL FLAT TABS. THESE two tabs MAKE CONNECTION TO THE THERMAL FUSE. IF IT IS DIRTY IT WILL NOT MAKE CONNECTION to the fuse.
CLEAN YOU'RE LAMP WITH A VACUUM. GET ALL DUST OUT.. CLEAN OUT THE TV...THE FAN SUCKS IN DIRT. THIS WILL FIX many ISSUEs. like over heating! dog hair, dust, gets sucked inside the TV by the FAN....hmmmm

ALSO DO THIS TO ALL YOU'RE ELECTRONICS THAT HAS A FAN.

(I FEEL ALL FANS ON ELECTRONICS SHOULD BE REVERSED) but i am sure there is a stupid reason that they want the fan to **** are inside the electronics. Like hmm

THIS cleaning SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 6 MONTH

KDF-E60A20. Picture and sound go off for a few seconds, repeats

It was as simple as replacing the lamp. It took just minutes and the TV works like new. I had to adjust he picture for the increased brightness level.

Screen goes dark, sound goes quiet...

I have a sony KDF-E60A20 projection tv. The picture would go out for about 30 seconds and come back on. It would continue to cycle this way. The green power light would stay on and not flash. The sound would go off when the picture went out and come back on when the picture came back on. I tried taking the bottom cover off the back exposing the fan and blowed it out with a vacuum cleaner, also taking out the bulb and blowing it out. That didn't help. So I ordered a new bulb from Advancedlamps.com and that's what it was. I have now had it on and off for two days and no problems. Cost of lamp was $107.00 including shipping. Good Luck!
