Error Oxc18a0106 "Ink System Failure" - got this message on my HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One Series printer. I tried off/on again and it didn't work. I tried unplugging the USB cord from the printer and power and it didn't work. Is there anything else I can try without having to purchase a new printer? Thank you for your help.

Hello rjjgraphics.
This is a serious hardware issue in the unit and in most cases , the unit needs to be replaced, so there is a less chance of the issue getting resolved.

Thx

SOURCE: HP Photosmart 3310 all in way Error Ink System had Failed 0xc18a0101

I had this same exact problem. Try doing:
1. Unplug the power cord from printer.
2. Hold both o.k and Cancel simultaneously.
3. Plug the power cable while holding the buttons.

After I did this my printer reconfigured like it used to do and it was like it was new again.... well new plus a headache a managed to get while reading all these little posts. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Hi i got a Hp photosmart 3100 Series and its not

Hi there
Solution 1:
- Hold down the "OK", "Cancel", "Black", and "Color" buttons at the same time and turn the printer off.
- Keep holding the buttons down until the printer shuts off and turn it back on.
- Turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate.
- Make sure there are new cartridges in the printer so that it can reset.

Solution 2:
- Remove the cartridges from the product.
- Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
- Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
- Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Display should say "Enter Special Key Combo" 3- Press and release in sequence the "1", "2" and "3" buttons. screen says "support" R0631M 4. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu". 5. Press and release the "OK" button. 6. Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status", 7. Press and release the "OK" button. 8. Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear". 9. Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue". 10. Press and release the "CANCEL" button as many times as necessary, so that, either the "Welcome to Photosmart Express" screen appears, or, the "Ink System Failure" screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE. 11. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet. 12. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer 13. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER" followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK. The Printer will start the "ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
