We have a persistent problem with water collecting inside our 2001 TT Roaster. You can hear the water slashing around and no one seems to know what the problem is.
Recently replaced the roof and the problem persists.

you will have to remove the glove box to access where the water is collecting. there is not really anything hot inside the dash what you are hearing is wiring starting to fry. you must find and seal this leak or you will find yourself on the side of the road roasting marshmallows over a Mitsubishi fire
Replace the window seals on the doors friend. Get them from the dealership for that vehicle, roll the windows down, pull the old seals, minding not to lose the clips, put the clips on the new wipers and place them in the slots.
There are multiple possibilities that could cause it. Your best bet would probably be to take it to a mechanic for a tune-up. If you wanted to do it yourself then you could:
- Change the spark plugs
- Change your timing belt
- Transmission fluid change (if its never been changed)
- Check your air filter and change if dirty
- Could also to the tensioner, roller and water pump - but I'd advise the above options first
It is very possible the a/c / heater system could have a mouse that died inside the unit. smells very very bad.just one possibilty. I have see this several times.

Do you have a drain plugged outside under hood on firewall. Looks like a rubber elbow or similar. Gently poke something inside, not too sharp or far to clean out. If all else fails try a little compressed air to dislodge.
