Hobart AE200 - Speed not increasing when gears changed

Hi - I recently replaced plastic (fibreglass?) cog and when I put it back together it no longer changes gear. I can change the gears but the speed doesn't increase.
One 'small' thing to note is that I have a washer left that I couldn't find where it should go.

Needless to say I did it without a manual as the manuals appear to be like goldust!!!

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks,
Enzo

Hobart A200 transmission, marble sounds, resistance with shaft support installed

It sounds like there may be a few potential issues that could be causing the resistance you are experiencing:
  1. Incorrect installation of the slow speed gear or key - If the slow speed gear or key were installed incorrectly, this could cause increased resistance in certain gears. Double-check the installation of these components to ensure they are properly oriented and positioned.
  2. Stuck gears - If the gears and key are stuck on the drive shaft, this could cause increased resistance. Try removing the gears and key again, and make sure they are clean and free of any debris before re-installing them.
  3. Improper alignment of the gears - If the gears are not properly aligned, this could cause increased resistance. Check to make sure the gears are properly seated and aligned with each other.
  4. Damage to the worm wheel - The freshly chewed up center of the worm wheel could be causing increased resistance. Consider replacing the worm wheel if it appears to be damaged.
Overall, it may be helpful to consult the Hobart service manual for your specific model to ensure all components are installed correctly and to troubleshoot any additional issues that may be causing the resistance.

Can not get second gear in my Hobart mixer

Dear anonymous
When you say you can't get 2nd gear in I assume you took out to replace grease and now you are having issues with putting it all back together. With that in mind let me tell you what you may have done. Looking at the diagram of gears and shafts side by side (found on Internet under a200 manual) you need to find the older model a200 manual. Inside the shifting yoke is a divers key and that has to fit inside the yoke then carefully put back on the shaft while depressing that inner shaft spring I think you have left this out or out of place this keeping it from going back together and your getting 2nd gear on

Hello, my Hobart AE200 seeps oil from the front panel. How do I top it up? How often does the oil need replacing and with what type of oil? Thanks

It's not oil in the A200, it's #2 weight grease. Although when it gets old enough it can break down far enough to basically become oil (either that or someone put oil in it previously). There are a number of answers written on fixya.com explaining how to disassemble the transmission and change the grease. Fill with 36 ounces #2 grease. FYI : disassembling the transmission and changing the grease is a very messy task and one can VERY easily reassemble the transmission incorrectly, so consider bringing the mixer to Hobart to have the job done.

Hobart Mixer D300, When mixing mashed potatoes paddle will only turn in low gear. When product is mashed with milk added it sometimes will turn in 2nd gear, but never in top. When this happens, motor is...

Sounds like the keys in the shifting sleeve may be sheared. The transmission will have to be disassembled and checked for broken parts. Check www.hobartservice.com for your local Hobart office.

Hobart AE200 gave a little sproing and stopped turning on all gears (electric motor turning fine apparently). I figure ?maybe it's the tufnell cog that's broken, but I can't get the inner plate off to...

The problem you are describing if I follow right I take the grease hole plugs out take the two spanner nuts off the man shaft and the driven shaft stick gear puller jaws into grease hole and put the gear puller onthe center saft and gently raise the top case.

Hobart A200 mixer motor worm gear

sometimes you read of other problems and solutions and it puts you at the edge of your seat. in this case of changing the worm gear on the A200F was cake. when you drop the lower end (3/4 acorn and jam nut), pull out yoke (speed select handle) the center transmision shaft and gears pull right out.worm gear easy to change at this point. if you can change a motor bearing, then you can do this job. Note: change seals and bearings as needed, check all gears, keys and spacers for wear and if you go the mile take gears off drive gears, these are the 2 smaller trans shafts put in lath if you have accsess to one if not roll shafts on flat surface to see that shafts have no bends in them. Also remember when you put the bottom back do not over tighten the jam nut, hold and lock acorn nut, should spin free and have about .016 to .030 movement up or down. Lay out all part on cardboard the way they came out. should go back together easy.

Spare parts

I just took a look at the www.hobartcorp.com web site and found a lot of parts lists. I did't find the AE200, but there were several listings for A200. You can ask Hobart if the A200 and the AE200 are the same on the inside.

Hobart C-100 mixer HELP!!!!

This is common there is a key on the shifter shaft and when you removed it the key came out and is floating in the grease in the tranny ready to destory the gears. That are no longer available at Hobart. if you want the shifter /switch plate off, remove the pin in shifter and the handle thats all. Hobart has a special puller I have two of them but you can use a H type puller to get to the pull threaded holes Mixer should be upside down on head to repair trans.
