Make sure you have the belt routed correctly. There should be a diagram under the hood of how to do this. If it is correct then the part store may have given you the wrong belt. I have had this happen many times. It is annoying but it does happen. I hope this helps.

Why does belt to alternator keep skeaking + snapping?

Bad bearings can usually be detected simply by turning the unloaded pulley (wheel). They feel sort of gritty compared to a good bearing. The squealing and snapping is a concern, however. My best guess would be a belt tensioning issue. Squealing is usually caused by belt slippage due to an unusually loose belt. This leads to belt damage and eventually, breakage. Of course a bad idler pulley bearing or other defective component (A/C, P/S, Alt) can cause the same results.

What is the growling noise coming from my 94 civic motor

Water pump or pulley most likely.

Always replace water pump and pulleys when you do the timing belt.

Also you may have overtightened the belt.

NOTE, Kevlar belts will make a "whirring" noise for a few thousand miles after replacement, but not a growling.

ALTERNATOR BELT SNAPPED OFF

the alternator is spun by the serpentine belt which also spins the steering pump and the A/C compressor. you need to buy a new belt and install it. the belts have different lengths depending on how the engine is configured. take your old belt to a parts store so they can measure it and sell you the proper belt. in order to put the new belt on you are going to have to pull off the service panel behind the right front wheel. so you are going to have to jack it up, put it on a stand and take off the right front wheel. it is nearly impossible to get the belt under the lower pulley without doing it through that service panel. when the belt is properly on all pulleys, except the tensioner, someone is going to have to pull and keep the tensioner back so the belt can be put into its proper position. there should be a small stick figure decal under the hood showing the tensioner and moving of it.

Dont know how to tightin the belt on my 2002 chrysler srebring! got the new alt.... in, but cant tightin the belt back up,i took the belt off by taking off the alt.....bolts

Have you tried to start it yet? That may be all you need to do to get the tensioner to re-activate and get the proper tightness.Be quick though.Only a brief start, then check it to see if it is any better.

My 97 miata has been having terrible squeaking noises coming from alternator belt area. put new belt on and still squealed then snapped off!!! Put another new one on less tight and the pulley for the...

The alternator is loading up too much for some reason.
Had the same issue on my friend's 2001 Mazda Protege. Turned out the voltage regulator in the alternator was faulty. Had the alternator rebuilt. A week later, it acted up again! There is apparently another issue, but I have not been able to figure it out.
Unfortunately, I don't have a clear answer for you, but, one's thing's for sure. Mazda has to stop using crappy Ford electrics in their cars.

My car is a VW golf Gti mk3 8v 2.0L, Alternator / water pump drive belt has snapped and been lost. I have new belt but I'm unsure of routing around the 3 pulleys. does the alternator act as the tensioner??

loosen the alternator and push the alternator to-wards the engine, put your new belt on ,fitting around the 3 pulleys once fitted look and see that the belt is in line.If your happy the belt is lined put a small bar between the engine and alternator and force the alternator out towards the front this should tension your belt tighten bolts on alternator.;at the longest point between two pullys in the middle of the belt move belt up and down with fingers if tension is right it should not move more than about 150ml,hope this helps you.adrian

How to put an alternator in a 1998 mitubishi eclipse

Well generally and very basically, ya, unplug the wires from Alternator then remove the bolts that attach it, remove the drive belt, Then, reinstall the new Alternator, then put belt on.. retighten the bolts.. reattach the Wires.. ya should be good to go. Check Check Check.

NB: Take note of how "Tight" the belt drive is and try to replicate that tension when finished.
