Are you pressing down firmly enough? If not, sounds like the digitizer may have a problem... The digitizer is the layer in front of the lcd, it's job is to pick up the signal from your pen and send it to the motherboard. The motherboard should have two connections to the screen, one to the lcd itself and another to the digitizer. If you remove the screws on the bottom of the tablet you can take off the keyboard and see if both are connected right.

You could be able to enable presentation mode by pressing the "settings" button on the bootom of your display, next to the power button and the "ctrl" and the rotate button. After you press that, your dell control point manager should pop up and then go to the tablet tab on the left and open it. after that, go to the display tab and you should see an option that allows you to turn your presentation mode on.

I had the same problem and was able to fixed it by using the other set of wires that connects the display to the wireless adapter (on the bottom of the laptop) ... use the grey and white/grey wires instead of the black and white wires.

Did you install the correct N-Trig drivers for your pen ? You can find them at http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs and by entering your TAG number which is located underneath your tablet pc.

and download the following drivers and install them in the following order :
