I have read and seen many issues about the GE Profile Howling sound in freezeer area behind the ice maker. It seems very common and yet I have not found a TRUE fix for it. Is there a fix?
Thanks dave

it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone
Just had this same issue repaired yesterday, the defrost element was out allowing the freezer to freeze up stopping the fan which moves the air and in turn causing the upper part of the frezzer to become warm and melt the ice. This is a common problem for the GE profile and I recommend finding a service company cheaper than GE and quit letting GE make more money off their CRAPPY appliances.
Check the condition of the teflon on the ice maker. You will probably need to replace the ice maker if the teflon is cracking and getting into your ice.
It sounds like you just have a leak at the back. Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet
valve. Then try the water dispenser and watch on the back for where the water may be leaking before it gets up to the ice maker.
Check to see if there is any obstruction (object of any kind) in the ice cube mold area. If nothing found, you will have to replace the icemaker, as individual repair parts are not available.
I also had the same problem (gsh25jfta ww). It did that for a couple of months now the coils freeze up and fridge gets warm. Still looking for solution?
