I have recently bought a DVD that says it only works in a region 1 DVD player and the people who sold it to me said that I could change my DVD player to play this DVD, I was wondering if this information is correct.

If you have some region-locked DVDs and you can't play on your DVD player, you can remove the region code by just get a dvd copy disc without region codes. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Copy which enables you to remove region code from Blu-ray and DVD.

How do i make my dvd player region 1 to region 2?

You can not change the region setting on set-top players. You will have to buy a region 2 or a region free player.

Yes, there are a few (players) that can be hacked, but this is way beyond the scope of the question.

My Samsung smart tv & my dvd/bluray player recorder I bought at same time. Haven't had blurays til now & wont play at all. Rental ones did now I've bought my own & they don't play! Not tech minded.HELP

Each DVD player is assigned a code for the region in which it's sold. For example USA/Canada are Region 1 players. DVD players will refuse to play discs not coded for its specific region. In effect, this means that a DVD purchased in one country is normally unreadable on a DVD player bought in another region.

If your rental DVDs work in the player then there is nothing wrong with your DVD player. If you have purchased DVDs that do not work the problem is with the DVDs you have, not with the DVD player.

Is there a region code magnavox dv220mw9a

Yes there is a region code built into the dv220mw9a depending on the region where the unit was sold. The version sold in the US will only read region 1 or All region DVDs.

Where was your DVD player purchased and what region code is on the DVDs? Please add a comment with more information on your problem.

I bought a DVD from the U.K., but it's not working on my DVD at home. I live in the U.S. I need some help. How do you make a foreign DVD work on our models?

The answer is generally you cannot. The recording industry refused to produce DVDs until the DVD player manufacturers agreed to a regional system, whereby DVD players sold in a particular region could only play DVDs marked for that region or marked "Universal" or "Region Code 0" (this is supposedly to discourage illegal copying). Your best bet is to use a computer DVD player set up for Region 2 (US is Region 1), then connect the video output of the computer to the monitor input of the TV if your TV has one (either VGA or DVI), or just watch it on your computer.

Earlier models of DVD players would allow you to change the region up to five times, but would permanently lock in the region set on the fifth change. Newer models don't even have that option because it was relatively easy to hack the region change counter. There is an "under-the-counter" DVD player hacking industry in Europe, but there is little demand for that in the US - partly because US recording industry lawyers can be even more bothersome and expensive to deal with than European bureaucrats, and partly because few people here obtain out-of-region discs.

I recently bought a toshiba dvd player SD2010KB, do i need to change the code to play dvd from america?

TRY THIS:

1) Turn on the dvd player
2) Press the eject/stop button on the dvd player (not the remote) to open the tray, and leave it open!
3) On the remote press 98790 (if done right, a message will appear stating that region has been changed to 0)
4) Enjoy your region free dvd playeR

tHAT Model is supposed to be multi-region...this is how you make it region free. Worth a try. Good luck

My wife bought a TV series on DVD while she was in the Middle East and now that she brought them back to Canada we are not able to play them. How do we deal with this?

Region-free DVD players are sold through various venues.Try playing it in a computer DVD player/burner. Some burners are region-free. Some software can copy your purchased disks, removing the region code in the process.

Multi region code

This is not possible without bypasssing/cracking the firmware on your DVD player. your player will generally allow 3 changes to the region code. If you have not changed yet, you may do so within the DVD player's setup options.

This is for DVP31XXX series i hope it works all on DVP31 series. It has been tested on DVP3146K /51 and it has been worked...

1. Make sure there is no disc in the player.
2. Turn power off and on again.
3. Open the tray.
4. On the remote, hit 9879 and then 0. This changes unit to Region 0, meaning it'll play all regions.
5. Hit OK on the remote.

Good Luck Guys!
