Hi,
You was good enough to help us with our fridge/freezer and all seemed fine, we defrosted the chiller unit, but today we noticed the fridge was not cool, we removed the panels inside the freezer again and it has totally frozen again, any ideas as this has happened in 2 weeks.
Many thnks
Your freezer section has a defrost system problem. A device (Timer) schedules defrosts, energizes electric heaters which melt the frost, when the temperature of the coil gets above the point where all ice is melted a thermostat opens cutting the electrical circuit for the heater(s). The defrost cycle continues until the time expires (18-22 minutes). Therefore your problem could be any one of the three elements. Timer, heater, or thermostat.

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if
there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not
defrosting as it should.
possible causes:
bad defrost timer/control unit
bad defrost heater (in freezer)
bad thermo switch in freezer
If
you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in
the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is
cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above
items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should
probably replace the machine.
You have a problem in you automatic defrost system. It could be one of the following that is causing it. The defrost timer could be bad, Locate it and rotate the dial Clockwise SLOWLY until you hear one click. The refrigerator will be in the defrost cycle. Wait about 20-30 minutes and if it defrosts and does not restart rotate the dial a little more and it will start. This tells you that the defrost timer is bad. If it does not defrost and restarts after 18-22 minutes the heater or defrost thermostat is bad.
If you look on e-bay, there is a chap in the UK selling repair kits. If you are reasonably mechanically minded and handy with a soldering iron, and happy to remove components on a PCB and replace them you can fix all of your issues in about an hour. The kit costs £35 with full instructions and also you can phone him for advice. It consists of a number of capacitors (as per solution #1 plus several others). I fixed mine over the weekend and am delighted with the results, no need to pay hundreds for the the boards from whirlpool!!
most likely you have defrost problem look for snowy type ice build up on rear wall of freezer side. if its frosted up manually defrost the freezer either by turnog unit off and leaving doors open for several hours or you can remove the freezer cover and defrost the coil with a blow dryer.
the most common part to fail in the defrost system is the defrost thermostat.
good luck
