SOURCE: sharp television will not power on

Check the internal fuses AFTER eliminating power supply, power strip, etc. But it sounds like it is in sleep mode. Try unplugging it, wait 5 minutes then power up while holding the power button in.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: Sharp LC-26D43U Power light flashes and unit won't turn on?

It's a power supply related problem. When it turns itself off, this it called protection mode. The TV automatically turns off to protect other parts form being damaged.
The most common problem is the Power Supply Unit or the Backlight Inverter Board.
You may have to take the TV to a repair shop to find out which one is bad. Paying a repair shop to replace the board for you maybe more than the TV is worth. If you let them diagnose it and you replace the bad circuit board yourself, it would be cheaper.

Here's a place I use to get parts for TVs:
http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=LC-26D43U&p=1
The problem is the repair shop may charge you double or three times of what the part costs at the web site link above. Then, plus labor. I just want to save you money. :)

If you mean the Sharp LC-C3742U TV, the power cord is part number: QACCDA039WJPZ . Several vendors have the power cord, including Amazon.com. See http://www.amazon.com/SHARP-OEM-QACCDA039WJPZ-CORD-CORE/dp/B001DEJTN6 and https://www.partstore.com/Part/Sharp/Sharp/LCC3742U/Sharp/Sharp/QACCDA039WJPZ/New.aspx, among other links.

I have an 1984 rudd 75,000btu forced hot air unit with pilot light, while cleaning unit an electrical connector broke off ! it looks like a blue plastic wing-nut, and It has 2 large black wires that go to...

The simple diagram for that specific problem it connected series to thermal cut off sensor.
The two black wires, One came from a power supply line (it means an active power
and the other one goes to the load motor) If you shorted it connection it will run the motor.
But it bypass the sensor.

Unplug the power then try to fix the both end of that black wire connected to terminal bolt of your thermal sensor by replacing the broken plastic nut with a new one.
Fit the nut thight to avoid electrical arch while giving power on at the start.
