If you don't want to waste money of buying Office, you can use Libre Office, which is a Open Source package as good as MS Office. It's free and can be downloaded here:

Once installed, you can go into the Preferences and set it to always save files in MS Office 2003 compatible format. Then you can easily exchange files with people using MS Office, if you need to.
It *is* different to MS Office but not hugely so and the differences don't take long to learn.

it is a 60 day free trial, after 60 days you have to buy the product key. If you already have a Office 2010 MPI card (Purchased Office with a new PC etc) the MPI key will work with the Free trial Download.
