Typically you can feed a vacuum hose down into the lint trap area and **** the sock out.

I'm sorry to hear that a sock fell into your lint screen chute and I would like to assist you. Be sure to unplug the dryer prior to servicing it! Do not run the dryer until you are able to remove the sock! There are two ways to do this.

Takes extra time to dry the clothes.

You may need to clean out your lint trap. Not just the part that you pull out. I'm talking about the entire tunnel. Even though we empty the lint trap regularly there's a lot that gets left behind and over time can become a fire hazard. Your arms and hands cannot reach everywhere in there. For this you can attach an old sock or rag to a coat hanger that has been opened up. Go down in there a couple of times with it. You'll be surprised at how much stuff comes out. To further help this problem you can also pull dryer out and check that the vent hose in back is clear and free of debris. Cleaning the trap screen (the part you pull out to empty the lint) with HOT water occasionally will also clear residue that has built up from using dryer sheets. Over time that residue will make those tiny screen holes smaller & smaller & smaller. All of this can affect your dryer's performance.

I hope this info was helpful to you. Good luck!

A clothes pin and piece of paper fell down the lint trap when I was cleaning the screen. How do I reach the pin and paper to get them out?

This may take you awhile to do, but once you get to it you may find a lot more than that down there. You have to remove the back on most all dryers. If the lint trap is on top, there is a metal chute that lint and other objects fall down.Remove the back and you will see what I am talking about.Once this is done, it is fairly easy to remove the collars that go down to the lint hose. You will then be able to clean all of the lint build up down below that gets by the trap.
Good luck, Sincerely, shastalaker7

A sock fell in the vent of my whirlpool dryer

If you mean the lint trap, try this: Unplug the dryer. With a dryer brush (~$10.00 @ Lowe's/similar), bend to approximate the curvature of your cavity and try to retrieve. If this doesn't work, slide/scoot the dryer out and remove the venting duct. Carry outside and dump. If no sock there, look into the dryer exhaust (where the duct connects). Use the brush again to retrieve said sock (and generally clean as you go, as it never hurts). Also look at your vent where your dryer exhaust passes through the wall, clean as you go..... This should get you back up and running.

Lint fell down the lint trap. How do I get it

Luckily, dryers are light. Best thing to do is pull it out until you can remove the back cover. (unplug it first) Then vacuum and clean all the dust and lint you can. This should be a yearly thing at least anyway. Replace the back plug it in and slid it back. I do mine every 6 months or so.

Lint fell off trap and down into dryer chute.

for the most if you want to clean it it will take you a while, depending on your model, disconect the unit from the power outlet first, from the back panel remove about 6- to 8 screws an then you will see the inside back panel expose to be vacumm, you'll see the back panel of the shoot that runs behind the dryer, take the i think 4-5 screws an vacumm it, i dont think is going to hurt your machine if a little fell in there, a quick way is try to remove the exhaust tube off the back an insert the vacumm cleaner, to clean the tube going out of the house you can use a strong shopvac, to **** it in or a leaf blower to push it out ...........good luck!

Sponge fell into lint trap. Is there something I can buy to put down the lint trap to try and get it out?

Surely you should be able to remove lint trap, or you would not be able to clean it!!!!.
Otherwise try a piece of wire with a hook on the end , and retrieve it that way.
