Okay here is the Fix for the Remington Pole for the remington saw. Lowes has a plumbing part that will work as I just purchased it 12/2010 The part is by GENOA and its a 3/4" pvc Union and the threads match. Its Lowes part 98996 and its < $6.00
I bought a GENOVA Coupling at Lowes part 98996 & am ready to install. I have removed the chain saw, but the plug is too large to pull thru the tube & and the pole switch can't go thru the other end. I have not been able to remove the wires from the switch & I don't want cut off the plug. How did you get the pole apart? Please let me know how you replaced the coupling nut. Thanks, GlennR
jogle297 The GENOVA Coupling at Lowes part 68996 will not fit. The inside diameter is too small to fit over the part on the pole & the threads are square cut instead of sharp cut as on the pole saw part. I'm still looking for a solution.

I had to drill a hole through both poles and put in a screw and leave the pole extended. i also can't find the part

I extended mine about half way out and then used duct tape to secure the poles. The nut had split on my saw as well, and after 2 days of searching I am unable to locate replacement parts. I didn't think about drilling and using a bolt due to the electric cord running through the poles.
Drilling worked great for me. Drilled 3 holes to have different options for extension. Used a wing nut to make it easier to change lengths if needed.
