Hello. I own a Panasonic video camera, model PV-DC252D-K (mini DV). Recently the error "PUSH THE RESET SWITCH" appeared on the screen. I pressed the 'RESET' button and then the error "NEEDS TO BE SERVICED"appeared on the screen and the camera can no longer be used. Can you please tell me the cause of this error and how can it be fixed? Thank you for your kind help.

This may be a somewhat unusual suggestion, but have you thought of taking it to be serviced ?

SOURCE: push the reset button

let the camera sit alone for About 20 min,so that the camcorder automatically turned off. I turned it off, then back on and did not receive the reset button prompt.
if that doesn't work unplug the battery and all power and plug back in.

Try to find same battery charger or camera and do Cross-Check, hook new charger with camera and confirm charging process and hook your charger in other same camera and confirm is it working? You will rectify the problem unit, either camera or charger.

Hi There, There is no external mic input on that model camera. The only way to do it is you will have to take the front panel off the unit and disconnect the flat mic/audio cable from the front panel. If you do this, tape up the connector so it won't short out the unit. If you had external mic in, you could put a dummy plug in and that would cut the sound from the internal microphone.
Thanks, me cicmo

Pull the battery out to reset it. Get a DV tape cleaner to clean out the tape deck.

That should solve both.

Push the reset button

This error indicates a cassette mechanism malfunction.
It happens usually when you don't operate the camecorder for long time
leaving the cassette inside and the battery attached.
Solution:
1. Open the cassette housing and nock GENTLY with your finger tip
on the cassette cabinet (particularly on the position marked "push") until
the cassette is released.
2. Push on the right place (marked "push") to close and then close the
cassette housing
3. Operate the cassette (play, fast forward/backward).
Repeat the above steps several times until the problem is gone.
Advise: Remove the battery and cassette when leaving the camecorder
for long period without being operated, and store the camcorder in a
dust/humidity protected place.
Hope this can help.
