Has anyone determined what the drum bearings are (where they can be bouhgt) for the GE front load washer model WBVH 6240F? GE wants to sell the entire rear drum assembly for seeral hundred dollars to replace these, but others have been able to replace their bearings on non-GE front loaders. Also, are the bearings (and rear drum) in common with a particular Frigidaire model? Thanks Bob

GE front load washer makes a loud slapping sound during the spin cycle and it sounds like something heavy is in the drum that keeps falling to the bottom of the drum when the spin cycle ends

You did not post the model number and that would be a must. However this sounds like the bearing or the pulley on the drum may have broken.

GE front loading clothes washers model: wcxh208h2ww --during spin cycle is incredibly loud--like a freighttrain going by--anyone have an idea for issue/fix?

Sounds like your bearings have failed - possibly just worn out after much use.

You can usually verify that this is the case by checking the play, the amount of movement, in the wash drum by trying to move it side to side (left/right) or up and down through the front door.

Generally they don't move at all, not even a fraction if the bearings are 100% OK

If you have a reasonable aptitude for DIY and are quite mechanical minded, replacing the bearings yourself is very possibly presuming you can get a new set.

Otherwise you need washing machine repair man

Have a GE front load adora model WHDVH626FWW - loud banging noises while spinning. I have checked the belt and it is fine. Drum is loose - how do I get the drum out to see why?

It is so common that the washing machine can make terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

its the inner baskets bearings behind this basket as water gets past the rear seal into these bearings and ruins them, you need to dismantle the entire unit to remove the inner basket from the outer tub to replace these bearings

first watch the drum as you rotate it,if it runs out of round, its not the bearings, but the spider on the back of the drum that holds it on the drive spline,if you notice strips of plastic in the pump this is a good sign of a bad sapider, dont use as if this shatters it can throw the tub out, call g.e. and get a recall on the tub,i got a customer a full refund on a g.e. like this and a new washer call them dont use for your safety

The metal tub has come loose within the housing. It was making a terrible noise. I looked inside the door and the stainless steel drum is disengaged. The rubber gasket and all is fine. Model #...

Two possibilities, one that the drum broke off of the supporting shaft--very expensive part (but could possibly be welded) and a complete tear-down to fix. The second is that the main bearing just behind the drum is bad. You can replace the bearing--go to a bearing supply house with the old one--cost less than $20, plus full tear-down to remove and replace. We went the bearing route and years later is still working well. If you try to buy parts from GE, they want to sell you the whole outer drum assembly for many penny.
