Bosch AquaStar 2400ES-NG Logo
Posted on Oct 14, 2010

Have a Bosch Aquastar 2400 ES tankless water heater. Water is coming out extremely hot; error code on unit says E1. This has been going on intermittently for about 2 months. Normal fix is: powering off the unit, reset it and let it cool down. Usually runs fine for another 2 weeks then hot water and error happen again. In the past, the E1 code has been preceded by an E9 code. What's the best way to fix this for good?

SOURCE: Bosch Pro tankless water heater overheating

The vent pipe you use is the correct size for the heater.Longer runs require bigger pipe.I also would check to see if the water is getting to hot.

SOURCE: is there alot of problems with bosch aquastar 2400

Bosch has had problems with these heaters for sure. They are the best known thing out there in the market. They are mostly responsible for the bad rap being given to all tankless heaters, but a big part of the problem is installation. They are being sold to homeowners at box stores as DIY kits. These are not units to be homeowner installed, venting and fuel requirements are different from regular heaters and they will not function correctly if improperly installed. I have installed several of the Rannai units over the past few years without any issue whatsoever.

SOURCE: does grundfos rcp96 pump work with bosch 2400 eo tankless heater?

What is your reason to have a recirc line on your water heater does the heater sit to far away from a certain fixture? If you put a pump on your tankless waterheater then your heater will continually fire till the call for hot water is stopped. Yes you normally do need a seperate line installed for a recirc line usually from the water heater to the farthest fixture away. If your problem is taking to long to get hot water then I suggest installing a second heater closer to problem area.

Bosch aquastar wont get hot

1) If tankless is not showing error code, the problem might be single-handled faucet cartridge:

2) Catch up on maintenance, such as cleaning combustion parts, have gas pressure checked, etc.

Before installing tankless water heater, read the service manuals and product manual to make sure you have testing skills and equipment needed to repair tankless gas water heater, and that you are prepared to buy expensive parts when needed and do the recommended yearly and monthly maintenance as outlined in manual.
Also check that area has qualified service technician, and that person carries parts on-hand, and is certified for your model number. Keep Tankless manufacturer contact information on-hand, and be skeptical of promises of unlimited hot water, and effortless long-lasting water heating, and saving money. The only folks saying this are the folks selling the product, and not their customers.

Fix most tankless gas water heaters yourself, same day, all brads for about $350.

I have a 250SX aquastar Bosch tankless hot water heater . It keeps going out on EC code; whats wrong? Also I've been running the unit for about a 9 months without hooking up the condensate dain line.

The 250 MUST have the condensate line connected. EC comes from gas supply problems and CO2 levels not being adjusted. LP units require 3/4" smooth gas pipe or 1" corrugated pipe minimum size. The LP regulator needs to be turned up to about 13 inches of water column and with all the gas appliances on, measure no less than 11 inches of water column. The CO2 levels must be measured by a qualified gas technician with a calibrated (with in 6 months) CO2 analyzer.
