The possibility is faulty water inlet valve. The valve lets the water to enter the machine. But if this valve is got weak/faulty then it will not stop the water from entering. If the water fill vale is checked ok then other possibility is faulty water fill valve switch. The switch detects the required water in the washing machine and shuts the fill valve off,but if the switch is faulty then it will not shut the water fill valve off and this will not stop the water from filling and this overfills the water. So most cases the water fill valve is faulty and it has to be replaced. But if the fill valve is checked ok then other possibility is faulty water fill valve switch. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. To get required parts ,you can get it from www.repairclinic.com .
