My Phillips 42PFL7422D/37 power starts but then shuts down before the screen comes on; you can hear the relays click on and the little blue 'on' LED on the front comes on for about 20 seconds and then all power shuts off.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT HAS NO PICTURE AND NO SOUND. THERE IS A GLOWING BACKLIGHTING.
THERE IS A BLUE LIGHT WHEN I TURN POWER ON THE TV. NO CLICKING RELAY SOUND.
MY PROBLEM WAS IN THE SLAVE INVERTER BOARD.
THE IC CHIP WAS BLOWN - SEE PICTURE. THERE IS A BURNED, DARK BROWN MARK ON ONE OF THE CONTACT LEADS ON THE CHIP.
THERE ARE $20 FIX IT KITS THAT YOU CAN BUY ON EBAY TO REPLACE THIS TINY LITTLE CHIP BUT IT'S RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SOLDER VERY CAREFULLY. I TRIED, AND DAMAGED THE BOARD SO I BOUGHT A USED ONE.
REMOVING THE IC CHIP IS PROBABLY BEST DONE WITH A HOT AIR SOLDER GUN. THEY COST ABOUT 50-200 DOLLARS.
AFTER INSTALLATION IT FIRED RIGHT UP.
IN ADDITION TO THE JUST BUYING ANOTHER INVERTER BOARD, I ALSO TESTED THE MASTER INVERTER TRANSFORMERS. ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, I TESTED THE DIODES, AND RESISTORS, AND CHECKED THE FUSE.
AFTER ALL OF THE ABOVE, I UPDATED THE FIRMWARE BY GOING TO THE PHILIPS WEBSITE.
LUCKY FOR MY SITUATION IT WAS NOT THE MASTER INVERTER, MAIN , TCON, POWERSUPPLY, OR DAMAGED BONDING ON THE LCD PANEL ITSELF.
Try to to put-off your lights and see if you have slight illumination on the screen, if it does, its the t-con board. If totally none, you have to change your Inverter board.
I need to know how long do you have the tv?In the other word, approx. how many hours you have put into it? Secondly, did you wall mounted the tv or setting it close the the area which there is not much room for the back of your tv to breath? solutiondoct
That is correct about the SSB. Now before we go any futher is this set still under warranty? If so or if it is just a little out like a couple of months contact Philips @1-888-744-5477. PS. on the front of the set where the power button is how mant times do that led blinks.
Ok. I got my tv back on.
I pulled off the back cover and found the relay that was clicking.
I have two blue relays next to each other that click when the power is pushed.
I placed a hair dryer over the relays for about a minute.
Once heated up, it only took 4 tries to get the TV to stay on.
I don't know why but this got my TV on.
I took off the back cover and found the source of the clicking.
Two blue plastic rectangular relays in the exact middle.
When I pushed the power button, I felt the top relay click, and I saw a flash from the bottom one. (they are right next to each other)
I took a hair dryer and placed it over the two relays for about 1 minute and tried the power.
It clicked only 4 times and then came on!!!!!!!!!
For some reason heat helps the relay.
If anyone is a tech and can explain this, please do.
Good luck!!!!
My tv is on and it didn't cost me anything.
I just can't turn it off now!!!
