This indicates that the wire bundle running through the hinge has been compromised. Some wire has frayed apart and is making intermittent contact with itself or the lid movement is causing the wire bundle to pull on one of the video connectors.

In order to fix this problem, you will need to remove the laptop's front hinge cover & check the bundle of wires connecting the motherboard to the LCD screen. If this bundle of wires is damaged, then you will have to get it replaced.

Why? hp pavillion when power is on but no picture on the monitor

Hi

If there is no picture on the screen there are number of reasons.

1. Faulty PC it can power up but not get the post are there any beeps from the PC if so how many and what pattern are thay.

2. The cable between your PC and monitor is loose / faulty Check your cables.

3. If you have put a 3rd party Video Card in this may be faulty or have come unseated, open the case and check if its firmly plugged in

Why does my hp pavillion 9700 not have HDMI input?

Are you sure you mean an input? If it's a laptop, it shouldn't have any video inputs. The pavilion 9700 has the same shell as a few other pavilions, but the 9700 was never designed with an HDMI port.
