Sounds like it thinks there is a jam. Check registeration sensor flag also exit sensor and duplex sensor. Could be dust or fuser sensor out of place or the duplex guide is broken

Look at your manual and set your communication speed down to 14.4 and see if that helps.

need to enter service programs print out 5990-2
then exe 5801 memory all clear
put all the settings back to where the were set
the printout will show you default and current settings

sc 121 is related to optics section of your machine.check the lamp is glowing .if so check the connection from optics to main board.
