Washer turns on but does not do anything but has a "humming" sound and does nothing else. The controls freeze and allow you to do nothing else. To reset, you must have to unplug it from the power. But when you try to operate again, it does the same thing...nothing. There is water still inside from the last time it was in use and will not drain.

Depending on the age of the washer most modern appliances cost more to repair than they are worth.
Your problem sounds like more than a simple filter.
I suggest unplug it, dip the water out of it with a quart cottage cheese cup, then recycle it and purchase a new one.

SOURCE: washer fills with water but wont drain

Check your lid switch. If your washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle or drain, the problem is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

NOTE: Some washer models have the lid switch located near either the left or right hinge of the lid. This type of switch is activated by a rod on the hinge pin. If not functioning, it can often be adjusted by bending the hinge rod until it engages the switch.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

PS You do not have to drain the washer to complete this repair. Once the switch is replaced the washer will drain on its own. This may save you the need to bail water again.

SOURCE: Kenmore Oasis Washer won't drain. "Ld" code during

Hi

Error code LD means long drain. This error appears when the washer takes more than 5 minutes to pump out the water till point where pressure switch resets. To resolve the issue you'll need to clean the drain hose, inspect if the drain hose is plugged. If the hose is fine, then remove the front kick panel and access the drain pump and filter, if you are unable to find the pump and filter remove the back panel as well and trace the drain hose to the bottom of the tub. There is a drain filter connected with the drain pump. It usually gets clogged, and needs to be cleaned every 6-8 months or so. The drain filter is a small white filter connected to drain pump with a hose. If it still doesn't work then you'll need to check the connections of the drain pump, check the electrical connections with a multimeter. Hope this helps... Please post back for more information.

Just moved front load beaumark washer into a new house, and it won't fill with water. the display lights up and you can here washer trying to fill (humming noice). All display lights come on and it...

It sounds like your water inlet valve is either not getting a signal to let water in from your control board or the water inlet valve is defective. Since you are hearing a humming noise, I would say that the water inlet valve is defective or has been damaged in transit.

Washer will fill with water but will do nothing else

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
When the dishwasher fills then it means that the control and the water inlet valve are fine, try to hear a different sound like a hum/buzz/click sound. If it is like a hum sound from the bottom panel then it indicates that the motor is bad and needs replacement and if the hum/click comes from the control then it is the timer that is bad and needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
