I've connected this TV from HD DVR box with HDMI and get no audio. I've added the RCA plug component audio with the HDMI hookup and still no audio. If I use S Cable and RCA component it works. Any suggestions with just the HDMI Cable because I hope for the best pic and sound I can get. Thanks
Something I did not mention. I'm using a HDMI switch box because I also have a BluRay running to the TV. The BluRay runs to the switch box which runs to the TV and no problem with the audio from the BluRay. The TV is connected just like the BluRay and I've changed their plug positions in the switch box with no changes.

Before the BluRay the DVR ran to the TV with the HDMI and no problems. As I said I've switched the cables plug position on the box and the BluRay has audio, the DVR / TV does not. All Cables have worked plugged into the TV... The TV Connector has and still works. Picture and Sound are perfect from the BluRay into the switch box into the TV from either switch box plug connection... The picture from the DVR into the switch box into the TV is perfect, but no sound at all from both switch box plug connections. What am I missing?All Cables have worked plugged into the TV... Is there any one of the "paid for experts" besides "IrishDruid" that might offer a suggestion besides "probably Faulty?" If the replacement HDMI cable also doesnt work, then the issue is either with the HDMI connector on the TV, or some loose wiring to the HDMI socket on the TV.

Hi garpsych, Unfortunately, thats the limitation of this this forum, in that we cannot actually physically do anything, except try to diagnose the problem and offer troubleshooting tips.
It does look as if the audio component of the HDMI on the DVR is faulty, as the switch box and blu-ray seem to work perfectly.
Also, the DVR works with other connections except with the HDMI..

If you use a sound system make sure it is on and connected to your TV using hdmi from sound system to cabl box.You must have your remote able to turn on audio and tv at the same time. Be sure your input setting is hdmi 1 if you use cable and tv is plugged into hdmi1.

Found the problem -Emerson TV has only one circuit audio outlet and that is being used with my HD Box - I have now spliced the red and white connections from the Hd Box connection to TV - plugged the spliced red and white connection into the red and white plugs and its a done deal. Everything works just fine,
Depending on your tv output, you shpuld be able to hook your TV to receiver via audio output. Running your video components through your receiver will not give you the best performance anyway. Run your HD DVR to TV the way you have it then, if it's possible to run audio out from TV, via, RCA, digital optical, etc., to your receiver. The sound will be transfered through the TV. You may also be able to utilize component out from your HD DVR and a separate audio cable.

Depending on what type of connection you are using from the cable companies DVR to your TV and what type of connections you have on your TV you can try the following..
1. As your DVD player supports HDMI, component and composite video out, check to see which spare AV inputs you have on your TV and connect the corresponding free input on your TV to the matching connector on your DVD player. You will also need to hook up audio from the player to this AV input on your TV using the options available on your TV (either RCA phono or optical in).
2. If you have no other AV inputs on your TV then buying an HDMI switcher or a component switcher or a simple an RCA phono y cable for composite video will allow you to connect both your DVR and DVD to the same TV input.

Easy, You plug either the HDMI cable into one of the HDMI inputs and then plug it into the XBOX 360. If you are using either the component or composite cables then plug them into the proper color coded input.
It depens on what the cable box outputs are, you need to see if it has RF Coaxial jack (use CH3 or CH 4 on the TV), composite video out (Yellow RCA jack) with red and white RCA for audio, component video outputs (Red, Green, and Blue RCA jacks), or HDMI output jacks. HDMI and component video are for HI-DEF if you subscribe to the HI-def package. The cable company should provide you with the owner manual. Please post back with more info.
1. Connect cable to cable HD DVR box, connect video out of cable box to Sony receiver TV video in, connect audio L and R out of cable box to Sony receiver TV audio in and connect TV out of receiver to video in of Panasonic projector

If you own a Digital Video Recorder, such as TiVo, or a DVR from a Cable or Satellite provider, then you know you can record to the device's hard drive to view TV shows at a later time, much like the old VCR. However, saving those TV shows becomes difficult as the Hard Drive starts to fill up. The answer to saving your shows is to record them to DVD! This can be accomplished easily by hooking up a DVD Recorder to your DVR
Here's How:
1)record a TV show on your DVR that you want to save to DVD!
2)Turn on the DVR, DVD Recorder and the TV that the DVD Recorder is connected to. In my case, I have my Samsung DVD Recorder (no hard drive) hooked up to my TV via an RCA Audio/Video cable from the rear outputs on the DVD Recorder to the rear RCA inputs on my TV. I use a seperate DVD Player for playing DVDs, but if you use your DVD Recorder as a player as well, use the best cable connections you can to connect to the TV. 3)Connect an S-Video or RCA video cable and composite stereo cables (red and white RCA plugs) from the DVR to the inputs on your DVD Recorder. If your TV has Component inputs, connect the Component Out from the DVD Recorder to the Component In on the TV, otherwise you can use S-Video or Composite. You will still need to use RCA audio with your video connection.
4)Change the input on your DVD Recorder to match the inputs you are using. Since I'm using the rear S-Video input, I change my input to "L1", which is the input for recording using the rear S-Video input. If I was recording using the front analog cables it would be "L2", the front Firewire input, "DV". The input select can typically be changed using the DVD Recorder remote.

If you have HDMI on the dvr and the tv use this cable connection this will handle audio and the video at it`s best, if you do not have HDMI, use the 3 component video outputs to the tv and a digital audio connection from the dvr to the tv
