HP 1610 Won't Recognize the Color Cartridge?? Please Help!

Well, I'm trying to help my mom out and help her with her HP 1610 Combo printer/scanner/copier.  She's only had the darn thing a year or to and has replaced both the color and black (94 & 95) ink cartridges.  Well, the darn thing is showing an error message on the LCD screen "Cartridge Error, Color Cartridge inserted now is not intended for use in this printer."  Well, it is cartridge #95 which shows to be the correct one according to most of the ink sites????  Is there anything I can try or do?  I've already pulled both out and cleaned the contacts etc...
Thanks much,  Robert

I have exactly the same problem trying to use the HP#99 Cartridge which says right on the side of the box that it is suitable for use in the 1610.

In fact, the HP#99 I used before actually worked in the printer.

I had this same printer and had the same problem with the color cartridge i called them and the said it was the wrong one for my country i needed one for USA they also said it was they would send me a new one at no cost and it worked for 2 weeks and the same thing happened called them again and told them that i noticed the wires in the ribbon on the cartage looked burnt and they said it was a printer problem and mine was out of warranty one day before and they couldn't do anything for me. so I think that some of these printers are frying the color cartridge just my opinion

I don't know who checks these messages, but I have the exact same problem, also with my mom's printer. it is no longer under warranty so HP wants to charge me thirty dollars for them to tell me how to fix it over the phone. no thanks.

My HP PSC 1610v keeps saying 'remove and realign color cartridge' even tho I've put in a new cartridge.

Is it a genuine HP?

If yes then there is a fault with the actual cartridge. Check you have removed the tape from the ink outlet if its still on it will cause theis error. If all appears right, try another GENUINE cartridge and claim the faulty one

Printer cuts off lines

I had this exact same problem - probably about a week after I put in NEW cartridges. I took them out, wiped the bottom off with a tissue (black and color) and put them back in. Did a test print and everything looks fine now.

My printer is HPpsc 1610 and I am out of black ink. May I use HPtricolor#95 instead until I can buy the black? I have 3 of them on hand.

you can not replace the black ink cartridge with a color ink cartridge. the printer will not recognize the tricolor that you will put in the black cartridge area

Printer will not print in color / hp psc 1610 all in one Please I need help very frustrated. Thanks, Mig

change the color ink cartridge out. don't use refills, or generics (because they are the cause of 80% of all inkjet problems with print quality). HP ink is expensive, and i don't support supporting HP at all by buying overpriced consumables, but at least, their ink is designed to work.
