Error 928: Fuser Motor Lock Error An error was detected with Fuser Motor rotation by overload. If rebooting the machine does not improve the symptom, you need to check the Fuser Unit.
The erase lamp (EL) is unconnected, was some recently working on the image unit? If so they for got to connect a small connector that provides power to the Erase lamp. OR the lamp is burned out, remove the image unit remove assy. above the drum do not touch the drum. pull up from both end at the rear should be to connectors are they connected? Erase lamp is on that assy. LEDS array along the axis.
Erase Lamp Service Check (010/212/414/616) Error code 928 may be displayed when the printer detects that the erase lamp assembly, cable or engine board is defective. Note: If the erase lamp assembly is defective, both the erase lamp and lens are replaced as a kit. Models 41b/41e/41l and any model at service level B do not have erase lamps installed. Go to "Printer Serial Label" on page 7-2 to identify the printer service level. Make the following checks when a 928 service error displays.
1 Cable, Front Harness Check the connection of the front harness to connector J10 on the engine board for correct installation. If incorrect, repair as necessary.Check the front harness to erase lamp assembly for correct installation. If incorrect, repair as necessary.
2 Engine Board Remove the controller board and toner cartridge from the machine. Ground pin J10-15. The erase lamps turn on. The lamps can be observed through the front of the machine with the cover open and print cartridge removed. If the lamps do not turn on, measure the voltage on J10-14. The voltage reads approximately +24 V dc. If incorrect, replace the engine board. If correct, check the voltage at J10-15. The voltage reads between +15 V dc to +20 V dc. If incorrect, check the continuity of the erase lamp lines in the main harness. If incorrect, replace the cable harness. If correct, replace the erase lamp assembly.
A 917 transfer roll error code on all models at service level may display if an incorrect level HVPS is installed in a printer that has the erase lamp assembly installed. Check to make sure the correct level HVPS is installed.
The SC - 928 is a Memory error problem. The machine detects a discrepancy in the write/read data during its write/read test (done at power off/on and at recovery from low power or night/off mode). To try to reset this code -- Turn the MAIN power switch off, wait about 30 secs. then turn switch back On.
Possible causes: • Memory defective • BICU defective • Poor connection between BICU and memory The cheapest repair would be to replace the memory. It is rare the the connections came apart unless some one was in the back of the machine for some reason.
