This camera just doesn't allow that option. Same with my DMC-FZ20-K. As to the reason behind it, you would have to ask Panasonic's designers. There is no fault with the camera anyway. It is just the way it is.

Enter "setup" mode, and switch from "picture" or "video" to "panoramic". Take a picture, move the camera, and take another picture. Follow the on-screen instructions when you have finished taking the segments.
Press the MENU/SELECT button then select the wrench icon. You should then see the talking-head icon (you may have to scroll down a page or two to get there).
If "noise" is sound, then the problem may be the volume is set strangely or there is no on board speaker. this is common on a lot of cameras. If you've heard sound before and the volume is fine, you either blew out your speaker or it just "broke". Call Panasonic and let them know you have a defective product.
