I too am having holes in the bottom front of my t-shirts? First wash - holes. Very frustrating problem.

I put my son's brand new shirt in the wash and it has 2 tiny holes in in. Then we realized that this was the 4 items to have holes. not sure if it is the washer or dryer because I only notice it when I'm folding. I'm going to contact GE this week.

In few occasions, the clothes came out with holes. My problem is that clothes comes out very wet after they've been washed. I end up running the drain and spin cycle one more time. Another problem is that the washing cycle stops several times during washing cycle. I have to push the start button again. How do I fix this?

I have the same problem. It has ruined 2 shirts, 2 bathing suits, 2 pairs of shorts, a newborn outfit, and a sports bra. I have only had the washer/dryer for 6 months. My old one, which I had for 10+ years never ruined clothes!

I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A NEW TOP LOADER 18 ITEMS WITH HOLES

  • Anonymous Oct 01, 2008

I too have the same problem but my model is the GE front load washer GCVH6260FWW. Had the washer for 2 years and chewed the clothes intermittently. I will definitely report it now and asked for the drum to be changed. It is expensive replacing clothes!!!! I'm afraid to buy another GE product.

Put me on the list for complaining about clothes coming out with holes and spin cycle not always working. This is the second time I have requested service on this stupid washing machine. It has been acting up ever since I bought it less than 2 years ago. Never will I buy GE again

  • Anonymous Nov 25, 2008

We have the same problem with the washing machine (GE model WCVH6260FWW)...it tears holes in light fabrics like T-shirts, pillow cases, and baby clothes. We've had service repair out 3 times since we bought it 2 years ago, once for bad sensor on drain (thought it was plugged and quit running altogether), once for not completing cycle, and recently for not draining / very wet clothes at end of cycle (their service professional said we were using too much detergent?!?!?). Per the posts in this blog, it looks like we need to call them again for a drum replacement. Luckily, we paid an extra $50 for a 5-year extended warranty, so the maintenance issues are covered for now. Unfortunately, the extended warranty doesn't cover annoyances like randomly stopping in the middle of the cycle, and not being able to close the door without mildew forming inside. We have to leave a bucket of Damp-Rid inside the drum and/or leave the door propped open whenever we're not using it. We are very careful shoppers, and don't usually get burned by bad products. This washer, however, is the single worst purchase we have ever made (and the mating dryer isn't much better).
Looking to replace it ASAP and transfer the warranty to the next guy.

My son has tons of holes in his treasured band shirts. He told me he thought the new washer was doing it, and I thought he was crazy. I called the exterminator and put moth balls in his closet! I thought he was engaging in weird teenage tee-shirt mutilation! Does anyone know if there has been a recall or if GE pays for the replacement costs of the clothes? I mean we have lost a lot of shirts. My husband's undershirts are also affected.

I have the same washer and my clothes get ripped all the time, too. It took me a while to figure out that it is the washer and so now it's out of warranty. GE won't do anything even though it's happened since we bought the machine. My girlfriend just bought this same machine and is having the same problem. I've seen on other websites that replacing the drum doesn't fix the problem. I'm tempted to take legal action because we've lost so many clothes to the washer.

Regarding the washer stopping mid-cycle, we had a technician come out and he cleaned out the filter and things worked fine. It happened again and we just had to clean out the filter to get it working again. (The filter in that machine can **** in entire socks, etc. and block the ability to drain.) If you take off the bottom panel of the washing machine, the filter is in the middle and you can pull it out to see if there is stuff blocking it. You'll need a screw driver and a bucket 'cuz there is usually lots of water in there.

Metal inside washer drum may be faulty and causing tearing of clothes (run your finger around the inside when empty and you will feel where it snags). Had same problem, only got worse and ruined many expensive t-shirts! Replacement of drum is required and is extremely costly if not under warranty!

My washer damages clothes

You should inspect the inside of the drum for damage or something stuck in the drum perforations. I have had exactly this problem and it was caused by the wire from one of my wife's bras coming out in the wash and getting stuck in the drum perforations.

Check the big rubber seal around the door for any holes or tears. Had the same problem, my husband had a screw in his pocket that torn a hole in the gasket.

Error code 20

i think your on the right track but a couple of things you need to know first that model washer wont spin tiny loads or one articles of clothing it has a device in the motor called a tacho generator to balance if you have only a small load it cant sense the balance and most of the time will only rock back and forth second your pump is the most likely culprit if you look in side the washer you will see a seem in the tub next to that will be one of the washer tumblers take the screws out of that tumbler slide it forward there will be a hole there rotate the tub to your right and you will find the hole going down to the drain pump can check it there but i don't think you'll find any thing as that is a larger hole it think your drain pump is now if you have a shop vac this is time to vacuum the water of the tub and all the way down the drain hole for the next stage usally i tell customers to remove the drain hose from the stand pipe and vacuum the water ou of the washer from the drain hose but because of the pillow this might not work in your case.now remove the two screws on the front lowerpanel and pull the panel

Frigidaire Front Loader Ripping Clothes

Frigidaire washer sucks. I'm tired of this useless machine ripping my clothes. You need to change your bellows(boot) kits around the door on front load. I have changed this kit twice now and each time, I spent $200 in repair fees. I wished I never bought this washer. Will never recommend to anyone i know.

Torn clothes

I've had this probelm as well and I suspect it to be the gasket that goes around the opening of the washer in your case(s). Mine is torn nearly halfway around and I believe the clothes are getting caught there. I called in for service two weeks ago but they keep telling me that the part is on backorder. Not a great problem to have with two toddlers!

GE top load Washer ripping clothes

Solution!
GE has replaced the "boot" (the large rubber gasket at the opening of the washer) on my washer. This has fixed the problem!

Although the majority of people I spoke with at GE did not know about this, eventually I got a repair technician out here who spoke with one of the engineers. The engineer said that there was a problem with the boot causing clothing to rip. The new boot we have on our washer covers a ring of plastic just on the outside of the metal drum (the plastic rim remains stationary while the metal drum spins - this is the cause of the ripped clothing) - the old boot left this plastic ring exposed. Our washer was only 8 months old - so even if your washer is new, if your clothing is being ripped, insist that the boot be replaced for an updated version.

Good luck!

My washer does not wash the clothes or go through the spin cycle.

It sound like a belt problem. Try to move tub manually first, in case it move smoothly -open the front panel, the belt should be between the motor and the drive pulley (lower front). In case it torn or not in its place, you should replace it. In case it doesn't move smoothly - maybe that a sock or other piece of clothing get between the clothes tub and the outer tub and prevent tub's spining. If this is the situation, it should be removed. Good luck !!
