Hobart 450 chopper mixer

This is for a hobart vmc 450 which is not in the product list.
I need to replace the bowl seals. Does anyone any experience with one of these, or know where to get a repair manual other than hobart.
They are so very expensive and I'm trying to save some money by doing the work myself

Large Hobart mixer, leaking oil?

* Model? Check side plate or post picture so I can check.
* Usually leaks are at the bearing seal(s). Replace.
* Frequent seal changes (less than 1-3 months). Replace bearings and seals.
* Check shaft near bearing seals for pitting (rust) that will damage seal. Remove and have a machine shop refurbish part. If possible; replace whole part and bearings. (or rebuild gear box.)
* Call your Hobart service rep for a quote.
* Check and replace lost oil as needed until machine is rejected (inspector, quality control, maintenance, etc.) Be careful oil does not get into food product.

How to pull auger drive shaft for Hobart 4346 mixer-grinder?

The oil seal is the resistance you feel. take a soft mallet or hammer with a soft drift and gently but firmly tap the stub shaft and it will drive out the oil seal in the hopper direction. The lower skirt of the tapered bearing is what contacts the seal so go slow.
Worked for me.

I have model A-200-D Hobart mixer. Serial # 1575984. It is leaking oil into the bowl. Who can I call to get an estimate to service or repair this machine?

The oil leeking into your bowl is old grease that has broken down into oil and is getting past your oil seal you need to take out all of your old grease and oil replace it with hi-temp grease or a good grade lithium grease and replace your agitor shaft oil seal

Hobart D300 Mixer, Will not shift from 2nd to 1st gear without coming to full stop, Ideas as to source of problem? It also seems to be making increased noise.

Hobart mixers are NOT designed to change gears while operating. The Hobart planetary gears are like the transmission in your car but, without the clutch. Everytime you change gears while unit is running you are tearing up the brass spacers, gears & seals. Time to call a QUALIFIED service tech to come out & sell you another planetary or rebuild your old one, about $2K, Buy a Varimixer if you want to change gears while unit is running, they use belts. Another planetary premature failur cause, over loading the bowl. Batters & icings- 75% bowl capacity, Dough 65% bowl capacity.

My Hobart D300 mixer appears to be leaking oil/grease

Hi,I'm a hobart tech and repair these mixer's often. If you see oil in the drip cup then the center shaft seal in the transmission is worn.If there is oil near the transformer then the motor shaft seal is also bad.Hobart doesnt release their service manuals to the public but if you go to their site www.hobartcorp.com you can register for free and get a parts manual thats helpful. If you need help with the repair let me know,i can step you through it.

New bowl & hook hobart d300

There is a website called onesharpstore.com, It carries parts for the hobart 30 quart mixer. I specifically saw the bowl and hook attachments as well as others like beaters and a cheese and vegetable grater. Hope this helps. And if you sign up I think you can even request a full catalog for your machine.

Hobart A200

Yes A-200 are number 12 I would find a hobart grinder they will have a big H in the casting on the neck get one with a stainless pan and stomper to push product down the throat. If you wait on Ebay and put it on your watch list they do come along. look for no rust. Make sure it has the big H in the casting. the other after market ones seem to not last long like the metal wears on the worm and hub to fast. also you always know where to get a piece if you need it if its a Hobart. not so with the forign jobs.
