In the manual of Epson CX5500, there is mention if the black ink are low, we can extend black ink by printing with a mixture of other colours to create composite black. It is same if we use colour copy to copy a text with black ink.
I use CISS, but i have a problem with my black ink, the printer still ok, but i think the cartridge is broken. I did take the printer to tecnician but it can't solve the problem. But still, the printer can print document with colour.
So, if you know how using the colour that can be mixture to create composite black, in printing ( use software or manual ).....without use anymore of black ink, please tell me, thanks.
This cannot be resolved, Epson software is useless it will force you to buy an INK
Hi I just wanted to upload this screenshot, just to show that this feature really exists but I don't see this popping out automatically for every model. Mine's TX210. In any case, the other day when this popped up, I accidentally clicked on "Disable This Feature". I went through all the menus in the Control Panel and Epson's printing software and I couldn't find an option to reactivate it. I called Epson's Technical Assistance in my country (in Asia) and he's never heard of this situation before. Strange... anyway he said the only thing he can suggest is to reinstall the printer driver and hope that the feature will be reactivated again. I reinstalled it but it didn't come back, so I UNINSTALLED my drivers completely, restarted the computer, reinstalled the drivers (and restarted again just to complete the installation) and the function's back again! This is just my own experience. I don't know how it'll be like with other models and other brands but I thought I'd just share this. I don't know why Epson would make this feature so unaccessible that we can't toggle it on and off, and that even their support team don't have a clear idea of this.
Good
I was having this same problem wiith a different Epson printer so I did some research. From that I learned that the printer will only make composite black with your color ink to PROLONG the ink in your black cartridge but it cannot replace the black ink. Therefore, only while you still have black ink left can your printer make composite black. So if you don't have any more black ink and you need to print something black your only solution is to go get black ink. It sucks, but you'll know next time and maybe you can use composite black even when your black cartridge is full to prolong the life of your black ink. Think about it...Epson is very sneaky (but it's also smart). If you could use your colored ink to make black ink, some people wouldn't buy the black ink which would mean less money for Epson. I hope this helps...it should.
