How do I stop light thumping noise?

For the fun of it I would pull the drum out of it and examin the bearing the drum rides on. Now some of these have a regular type wheel bearing type, and others have these wide plastic that the drum just rides on. But they are not that hard to take apart and put back together. Just need some practice.

It is making a loud sqeaking noise when running and if you look inside of the drum it has a wear pattern on it

Unplug The Dryer! I took my panels off a squeaky dryer and had to pull the drum out and Vaseline the shaft and the hole it come out of, keep track of some wires you may have to pull off, so you slip'em on in the same places you pulled em from, put it all back together and if done correctly you'll have your peace while doing laundry again. good luck

My Maytag dryer MDE5500AYW is making a rattling noise. It sounds as if it is coming from the rear of the machine. How do I access the insides of the dryer?

I had the same problem but it's the FRONT Panel you need to remove first. Before you start, unplug the thing first. BTW I did the whole proceedure in 2 minutes using an electric screwdiver / philips bit.
To open the dryer front you first take the door off by removing the two philips head screws, then slightly lift the door and pull toward you (the door hinges have little hooks on the end that inserts into the slots (this little design keeps the door from falling off during removal and install-nice). Then remove the two philips screws on the other side of the door opening (opposite the door hinges). These screws hold two plastic brackets (be sure to see how they are aligned before you remove them so you know how they go back on.

Now the front frame panel looks like an "H" . Grab the top two arms of the 'H" and give a quick pull. The top arms of the 'H" will come loose. The bottom part is held by a couple of clips, just pull up and the front panel comes off.

You will be able to see inside, you can also remove the two screws holding the top on (they are in the corners in the front) .

Cuts off makes noise

Sound like the dryer bearing or rollers are out. This would make it very hard for the dryer to start and run. You must pull the dryer drum out to access the parts. I'm sure you will see the problem right away once it is apart.

GE Harmony Dryer makes Loud Vibrating noise

If you can open the walls of the dryer up check all screws and bolts that hold things together. Some times they will vibrate loose causing parts to make a vibrating sound against the frame itself.. Eventually the loose screws will just keep getting looser. Even the screws on the walls of the unit should be tightened That could cause a lot of noise.

sound slike something fell down there and is jamming the blower from turning. if the filter is ontop of the unit, remove the 2 phillips located under where the filter pulls out from. and the n remove all the screws on back panel youll see ( down the left side of unit ) the filter houosing, its secured by 3 5/16 screws toward the bottom portion of the housing, simply unscrerw and wiggle out, then remove the debris, and reassemble.
if the lint screen is located inside behind door, eitehr remove the bottom accesss panel or pop the top(with a screw driver approx 3 inches in from ither side of main top relaes the clips) the lid tips back revealing 2 screws holding front panel to the unit, after removing you will see the filter housing, still mounted by probalby 3-4 screws, remove the housing and retrieve the debris that has fallen down there
