SOURCE: Frigidaire Deluxe Chest Freezer is constantly

Two things to check without knowing the model number.

It is possible the drain plug was left out or not inserted correctly after defrosting and it is leaking..

Also there is sometimes an evaporator pan with a heater element on the bottom. If the heater element failed the evaporator pan would overflow.

SOURCE: freezer door has a gap in the middle. Seal doesn't

Put a long straight edge on the door to verify a warp. A 4 foot level is good for this test.
If the door is in fact warped. You should pull back on the seal, loosen the screws behind the seal holding the door liner in place, adjust the door to the straight edge and re-tighten the screws.
If the straight edge does not show a warped door, take a hair dryer and heat the seal where it is off the frame. Do this with the door closed and you will see the seal relax and touch the frame. Let it cool in this position before opening the door again.
If neither of these is the cause, loosen the door hinge and re-adjust the door position, then re-tighten the hinge screws.

Searching for Nova Scotia chest freezer door seal

I am in Canada and 'Nova Scotia' should be a Canadian brand but I don't know it (I am in Toronto). The model number also appears to be assigned to a company called 'Norfrost'. There are universal seals by size, or you can make your own.

How to fix a chest freezer seal

Hello friend, I appreciate your post!

I see you are trying to fix the seal on your Frigidaire chest freezer. Are you having an issue with your freezer not closing? If so, have you verified that there is nothing blocking the door from closing as well as making sure there was nothing between the door gasket and the freezer body? Next, I would check to make sure that the gasket is not damaged or compromised in any way. If it is not damaged, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. I hope this information helps. -Matt

How tight should the suction be on the door of chest freezer

Hello dotty26 - The door gasket should be securely closing with no resistance. You may try lubricating the door gasket with petroleum jelly to make it easier to open as well.

Door seal not tight on upright freezer

Check the door sits straight and square on the front. You can "adjust" with the heel of your hand to make it sit flat against the frame. Even a poor seal shouldn't make frozen food thaw - check and clean the condenser and fan

We just bought a chest freezer and the suction is so tight can't open the lid .What do we need to do.

Most likely it isn't the suction but moisture on your seal freezing to the frame. Suggest a putty knife with a hair dryer blowing hot air on the blade and working it around the seal.

I have a Danby DCF520W Chest freezer. the compressor runs and the contents freeze but the outside case stays hot all the time. After a couple of days the freezer shuts down and has to be unplugged before...

your freezer may be overheating due to the defrost for the freezer door, (mullan heater) is staying on. Most likely the door is not sealing properly. Also if it has a power saver switch on the side select it to that.

Bought new 8.8 stand up magic c freezer can't get dr open

Bought the same freezer from Home Depot, door would not open did find with a bit of detective work that if you place your fingers between the door gasket and the shell of the freezer you can break the glue type seal then door works fine. You must go across top and down both sides.

Can you move a freezer with frozen food across the country

Yes, here are some helps:
1. Buy a load of dry ice and pack as much as you can in the available spaces of the freezer. The less free air space the better.
2. When traveling, if at all possible when stopping for the night, use an extension cord to plug the freezer in.
3. You may need to repack the dry ice once, but you'll be in pretty good shape if you fill it tight.

You may want to seal the door shut with tape. Avoid duct tape...too much residue .. try gaffers tape, it can stay on for a few weeks without leaving all the duct tape goop...

Hope all goes well on your trip.
