Hi there, I used my camera in sea for many times, always was working nice. But some days ago I went to sea and the camera stopped working the flash. I left overnight off and next day it was working normally again. Then when I went to sea again (always about 2 or 3 metres deep) and the camera simply stopped work. I opened the card and batterie compartment was dry and fine, when I opened the compartment where I use for connect the USB cable was very wet. I left the camera off for 3 days to dry and tried to turn on, still the display not working, but the camera is taking pic and the flash is working. I tried to connect through USB cable, but its show me in my computer (windows 7) the device has a problem (code 43). What can I do to fix it? it has solution? I need help! Thanks!

It still amazes me how many people buy these cameras that are seemingly "waterproof" and eventually have the very same problems you are now having. The only true underwater camera is one in an underwater housing.

The camera has barely been used since purchased some years ago, and it seems that I can't get it to do anything at all. Batteries are new, worked fine for a while then nothing. What could be wrong? Camera...

It almost certainly needs servicing.

These cameras are especially prone to jamming up due to dried out lubricant films if they are not regularly used.

Get the seals replaced at the same time as they must be replaced at least annually.

My phone freezes up each time i try to use the camera.i have only had it about a month & just noticed it the other day when i went to try it out. i have to remove the battery to get the phone back to...

Hi,

problem can be solved. When a phone freezes any time you want to use the camera, it means that the camera is damaged.

It is a common problem for Sony Erickson phones. The camera of the phone is jammed and the lens has been distorted that is why the phone always hangs or in some other phones it shows camera error.

You will need to changed the camera for it to be able to display and for it to stop freezing the phone.

Have a nice day.

How do I set flash so that it flashes only when needed?

Hi Dear,

To set the flash. There is one button on the back side or on top of the camera(to located this button go through your user manual supplied with the camera). Using that button you can select the flash.

There is three option while selecting it :

1. Always on. When you select it the flash will be triggered when ever yo click a picture, No matter it is day light or at night.

2. Always off. In this the flash will not be triggered at any time.

3. Automatic. When you select this, the flash will be triggered automatically when ever the inbuilt sensor detects there is a need for one.

Hope this will help to solve your issue.

Black pictures when using flash

The black images with flash mean that the Iris mechanism in the lens is not working properly, and that needs a professional camera repair service.

Can't take photographs when flash is on

Hi
The powershot s5 IS does in fact have some strange behaviour issues especially on the first rev firmware. For example if you take 15-20 flash photos consecutively without powering down your camera the flash recycle times will increase to about 15sec, so you'll have to wait about 15sec before you can take another flash photo. The work around is to power down the camera and then turn it back ON. Another strange behaviour is manifested by its inability to lock focus after taking a "no-flash" photo, then popping up the flash and trying to take a flash photo. Again the work-around is to power down the camera, pop-up the flash and then power it back up. Confirmed these behaviours in two other cameras of the same model.
