TV will only stay powered up around 30 minutes. After 30 minutes tv will only powqer back up after a 30 minute or so cooling period. When tv powers off light goes amber just as though it were physically powered off, no video, no audio.

Power supply board have intermitten problems,not sustancenig a constance power to the tv.The tv power up 30 mins within the time frame,the tv work than,yes?The power supply board,that the board,where the power a/c coard plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

The cause of this problem lies in the power supply board of your TV. Most probably the main dc filter capacitor, the thickest one on the whole board, 150mf/450v should be defective. If you open the back cover and check, you may find this capacitor swollen up at the top. Apart from this you may find some other small capacitors also gone bad.
Another thing, please never leave your TV in stand by mode for long hours, specially when you are not home. Any power fluctuation during this period can harm your set.
A word of caution, please be very careful if you want to do it yourself, because your set is a big one and any wrong move can damage the panel.

When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.

What is the error code?

Power off and not coming back. Changed power connection, checked switch, no power light. Where do I get a power supply for the tv and what does it cost. For initial cost of $900.00 I expected the tv to...
keep it unplugged for about 30 minutes to reset the tv. then try again. also you may have simply blown a fuse inside the tv. open up the back panel right where the plug connect there will be a fuse. if its blown just replace it. if its not blown and the 30 minutes dont work. its not worth finding a power supply (i looked and cannot find one anywhere) and if you do i have seen power supplies for other tvs upwards of a couple hundred you can easily buy a 37 in 1080p tv know for around 350

My sony 52" keeps cutting
You may have bad power and your TV may be reacting to voltage drops or spikes. Is your TV powered through any kind of conditioner, surge supressor or filter? If not, you should consider getting one even if its only a $100 item. Stay away from standard or computer power strips though. Make sure it is not overheating and you have plenty of cooling space around the TV both to the sides and back, if it starts to overheat it will shut down. Or it could be a panel or internal board error. You'll need to get Sony tech to diagnose the problem. Are you getting any blinking lights when it shuts down? these are a code for the techs to let them know what to start looking at .

If your TV works for a short period and then the image disappear it's likely the LCD inverter that powers the CCFL backlight. therefore what you will likely need is to change the inverter.
I assume that is you If you let the TV cool down for a while (or use it next day) then you keep having the same problem.
I have the opposite problem where the picture appears after 30 minutes, then stays on. As annoying as it is it's less of a problem because as long as I let the LCD war up for 30 min. then I can use the TV. Unfortunately in your case the TV is only usable for 30 minutes.
You can buy a used/refurbished one on ebay or you could head over to lcdparts.net where the inverter is available at $150 (this was the lowest i could find in online stores).

It could possibly be a protection circuit in your tv that protects it if something is not functioning properly. from what is described, it could be anything from overheating to even a bad power supply! I would have someone look at it. Good Luck!

TV shuts off and then back on, power indicator stays on steady.
I JUST (2 minutes ago!) had the repair man leave for the EXACT same problem on the same model TV!! All he had to do was take the front panel off the TV (in the front) and clean the bulb and fan. He said that the dust gets trapped in there and makes the bulb power off! $100 service call to clean the bulb!! Now it is working GREAT and has not powered off since! Hope this helps!!

Its fried. The TV works fine until it gets hot and then it powers off...basically you need someone to replace some innards or you need a new TV. Bad news friend.

If it's staying on for just a short period of time it sounds like there is a sensor that is giving the unit a faulty condition (Perhaps for reason or due to a fault in the sensor). There are normally a few temp sensors in the TV around the Lamp and Ballast. They may be bad, or the lamp or ballast is just generating too much heat.
