I have a Panasonic Model NN-P295SFR microwave. it just stopped the other day.

Have you had a power surge or outage? sounds like the main circuit board lost its programming.

Repairing Microwave Ovens

Microwave engineers are highly skilled and have test equipment. It is also very dangerous inside them, lethal heart stopping voltage, dangerous radiation that can blind you in 6 seconds, plus the Magnetron core is a toxic heavy metal. An average home microwave transformer has two secondary windings. The low-voltage winding provides around 3.2 volts, but the problem is the high voltage winding provides between 1,800 and 2,800 volts (average is about 2,200 volts). The low voltage output is used to light the filament in the microwave-generating vacuum tube (the Magnetron). The high voltage AC output from the transformer is changed to DC and doubled using a voltage doubling circuit (Diode and High Voltage Capacitor) to power the Magnetron. The microwave oven transformer and voltage doubler operate at lethal voltage and current levels which will easily jump an inch of you get close to it! The capacitor has to be discharged, which is dangerous in itself. Don't mess with them unless you know exactly what you are doing which most people here on Fixya don't have the knowledge or the abilities..

There are are only three parts to a microwave, the step up transformer, the HUGE capacitor, and a magnetron. Plus control boards to run them. The test equipment and knowledge diagnoses and provides the fix. The best idea is to take it in for repair. It is not the answer you want, but the best one. It is the same with televisions, we see people here change every board and still not have a working set. The same is likely to happen to you with home microwave oven repair.

LG ldg3016st has no power on main control panel

Did you have any power surges in the house? Any thunder storms?? even if you are not using a microwave, but it is plugged in , you see the clock?? That means it is getting power and running the clock so while you may not be cooking in it, it is actually using power to run the clock functions. So, if there was a power surge, it damages a part on the main board called the Low voltage transformer. It takes the 120 volts from the wall and drops it down to the voltages the board needs to operate, sometimes 5,12 24 or maybe 30 volts. If the primnary winding gets damaged from a surge of some sort. it will no longer light up if that small transformer was damaged. That can happen without even blowing the fuse as the small wires in the transformer were never meant to carry the 15 or 20 amps the fuse is rated at. So the transformer goes bad and the unit is dead but no blown fuse. Have to check the primary winding of the low volt transformer to see if it has continuity. If not, will need new main circuit board. Sorry But $$$$$

I NEED TO KNOW TO CONNECT THE WIRES FROM THE TRANSFORMER CAPACITOR AND MAGNATRON

One side of the high voltage winding is usually connected to the frame of the transformer. Verify to make sure this is the case. The other end of the winding goes to the capacitor terminal that's not connected to the rectifier. There should be another high voltage wire that goes from the rectifier side of the capacitor to the magnetron. And, there should be two wires that go from the filiament winding on the transformer to the magnetron. The primary winding should be connected to whatever supplies 117 vac to it.

Think my fuse blowed

Generally, Microwave ovens have a glass fuse on the main filter board inside the microwave itself. Attempting to replace this yourself (opening the microwave covers) is not advisable. There are several components inside a microwave oven that run at 2000-3000 volts and though it is unlikely, there is a chance the capacitor on the high voltage side is still charged and presents a LETHAL hazard. A repair of this nature should be referred to a qualified technician.

Jmc8130dds microwave died. any thoughts. previously numerous messages about locking the screen on its own.

I think it is time to replace the microwave oven, the fuse has blown and there are numerous reasons why, shorted power transformer, shorted filament winding in the magnetron, cracked high voltage diode with a high level short, and a shorted high voltage capacitor, not to mention issues with the keypad and microprocessor control board.

Magnetron replaced. Message: "refer to ops instructions." ???

If it was done by a repair place just take it back and read the riot act to them. Thats NOT acceptable. If you did it yourself, I would guess it wasn't just the magnetron, probably high power diode and other things too.

Kenmore Microwave model 721.80019 does not heat

Hi

When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. As there was power loss due to storm so I believe it could either be the the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board . To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assitance.

Thanks

Cuts out after 17 seconds and screen says 'refer to operating instructions'. But nothing in booklet describes problem.

Are you sure it isn't 22 seconds? If so, the 22 seconds is the giveaway.

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
