Well i dont have a les paul studio i have a les paul menace with the same problem. Hopefully you can still help me. When i plug the guitar in and turn the volume up on the guitar a loud hum appears. The hum goes away if i touch the cable or amp. I have swapped cables out and it is still there, and am fairly sure its not the amp because none of my other guitars has this problem. I was wondering is it might be something inside the guitar but everything looks connected but im no electronics expert. Hopefully you can help its my favorite, it just doesnt sound as good as it did right now.

OK... Most of the guitars have a PAINTED on shielding in the well with the electronics. Sometimes the electrical connection to this is broken causing hum. Sometimes the connection is by way of the potentiometer shaft nuts and they spin and break the connection. This paint is conductive and often black know as aquadag. Use an ohmeter to verify connection.

What model is my 2007 gibson les paul serial number 015971360? mild sunburst with a pattern deck. can you tell me what model this guitar is please? i dont think its a studio

George, it's a Les Paul. BTW, I've tried hard to figure out what made them assign labels like Studio and Standard to the LP, here's what I figured out - What makes an LP a 'Studio' is the word Studio graved into the TRC. Conversely, a 'Standard' has the word Standard graved into the truss rod cover. That is it. If you prefer one model over the other - Guitar Center sells the engraved covers. You bet it's b.s. - but that was truly the state of things at Gibson. Maybe when they start back up - they'll build better guitars.

Guitar serial number lookup

Your guitar was made at the
Nashville Plant, TN, USA
August 22nd, 1991
Production Number: 30

As for the wood generally les pauls are made with a mahogany body and a maple top. unless your studio is a studio lite, in which case your guitar would of had a chromite block of wood in the center to lighten it up.

How do i choice to buy a custom epiphone les paul

If you are on a limited budget then get a standard Epiphone Les Paul. The Custom is not much better. If you have a little more to spend then I recommend getting a new or used Gibson Les Paul Studio.

Narrowing down which guitar to buy is completely opinion-based. You need to try multiple guitars to find one you like best since they all feel a little different.
