I have the photo printer for 4 years, just installed it with original ink cartridges, the printer prints regular text just fine, but in trying to print photos, the photos come out very red with no definition of color. HELP

My printer is printing blank pages

I used to have one of these printers.

1. Check the ink levels.
2. Try printing on DVD.

The C309 has a black photo cartridge.

Text prints from the regular black cartridge and pictures print from the photo black cartridge.

THe best way to tell if by checking first the ink levels and replace cartridge if necessary.

One thing you can do to check if the printer is printing is by adjusting on the Printer Setttings and printing on one color.

To do this you need to choose the color from a circular palette .

Another way is to use Word or any other processor and change the font color to blue and print it.

Hope it helps.

Poor color printing

It means that the printer is not spraying properly all colors.

If the bar are regular, that means that the printhead is blocking the spry at regular times intervals.

Sometimes this problems is related to the printhead.

You find out if it is a faulty printhead by removing it, leaving in in isopropyl alcohol overnight or replacing it.

If printhead is fine then it is a problem with the control board.

Prints purple instead of black on photos only

My Canon printer has TWO slots for black ink cartridges. I assumed one was extra and didn't replace it when I ran out. Text printed just fine with only one installed, but my photos were printing with purple instead of black. I looked into it, and the two cartridges are different: one holds dye-based ink, the other has pigment based. Photos must require both kinds. If your printer is the same as mine, use both!

The dont know how to switch the ink cartages

The large black ink cartridge is used for printing text and other general black printing. The small black cartridge is used when printing graphics and other fine details. Each cartridge feeds to a different part of the print head, which is used for different purposes.

HP PSC 1300 All in one Printer

Replacing the print cartridgesgtabtop.gif
  1. Turn on the HP PSC and lower the print-carriage access door.
The print carriage will move into the access area. Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access door

  2. After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot.
NOTE: The black cartridge is on the right side of the print carriage.
Figure 2: Removing the print cartridge
    c00034851.jpg
NOTE: It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.

  3. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
CAUTION: Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles.

  4. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle.

  5. Close the print-carriage access door.

Using a photo print cartridgegtabtop.gif To use the photo print cartridge, remove the black print cartridge and insert the photo print cartridge in its place.
The photo print cartridge can be purchased separately and will optimize the quality of printed photos.
With the tri-color print cartridge and photo print cartridge installed, you have a six-ink system, which provides enhanced quality photos. For printing regular text documents, use the black print cartridge.
Use a print cartridge protector to keep either print cartridge secure when it is not being used. Figure 5: Storing the print cartridge

  1. Place the alignment page face down on the left front corner of the glass with the top of the page facing the left side.
  2. Press Scan .
The HP PSC will align the print cartridges. During the alignment the button LED will blink until the alignment is complete.

Printer will not print black ink

Hi please try these steps:::

Right-click the printer icon, and then select 'Properties'.
2. Click the 'Maintenance' tab, and then click 'Deep Cleaning'.

maintdeep.jpg

3. Select 'All Colors', 'Black' or 'Color' for the print head to be cleaned.

allcolorsorblack.jpg

4. Read the message displayed, and then click 'OK'. The power lamp blinks and print head deep cleaning starts. (Do not perform any other operations until print head deep cleaning is complete. Print head deep cleaning takes about 1 minute.)

IF ABOVE STEPS DOESN'T WORK TRY THESE STEPS BELOW

Check ink tank vent hole The ink tank requires air to flow through it so ink can move from the reservoir to the print heads.

  1. Confirm there is no orange tape across the top of the ink tank

  2. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (1), it is properly removed.

    ink_tank_tape.jpg

    *BCI-3's shown in this example.

  3. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (2), remove the remaining tape to the level shown in Figure (1).

  4. Make sure each ink tank is snapped into the printer.

IF THESE STEPS DIDNOT WORK THEN YOUR PRINTER NEEDS REPAIR(You might need to change the printer head.)

Won't print text

This is a photo printer. My regular printer will not print photos and if I am correct photo printers will not print regular documents. They are made for separate document types (ex. doc and jpeg). This is so the corporate winners can steal more money from the consumer. I am sure there are printers out there that do both, but your printer is specifically a photo printer. Ask a tech at Best Buy or Circuit City. Let me know what they say.

Printer will not print black ink

Chewbacca08's solution gave me an idea. I set the print setting to photos paper (even though I was trying to print on plain paper) and IT WORKED. It's worth a shot before you trash a perfectly good printer.
