I've lost the password to the CLI and WebConsole of my switch How can I reset it back to factory settings? (or is there another way to get in?)

Motorola RFS Default Password

Default Ip address ==> 10.1.1.100

Username ==> admin

Password ==> superuser

for CLI==> RFS6000login ==> CLI

This router will have a Reset button in back side of router.
Press that button for 30 Seconds. It will go back to factory default setting.

There is probably a reset button somewhere on the device, it is probably a small pinhole that you put a paper-clip into the reset.
If it has its own http web page, there is likely a reset to factory defualts option.

The ip of the computer connecting to it should not change.
On a computer connected to it, open cmd start>run then type in cmd, and type 'ipconfig'.
It will display details about your connection. Where it says 'default gateway' is the ip of the device.
You could try to put the ip in your browser and see if the device has a web page.

To reset using the CLI, run the command "erase startup-config". When prompted, say yes to reboot and that will restore the procurve switch back to factory settings after it starts up.

Before trying anything too drastic, I'd try using the username "admin" without the quotes and leaving the password blank. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to use the reset switch that's located on the back of the switch (number 1 in the pic below).

The following steps are taken from the manual for the switch.
1. Press-and-hold the reset switch while the switch device is operational. This change of the login password to the default password will be indicated through CLI only.
2. Logon the device management. You can now logon to the switch through the console port and assign a new password using the command line interface (CLI).

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

Forgotten or lost Password -> "Methods to get into your PC/Laptop"

Factory settings -> Means the settings set by the OEM vendors when your first receive your PC/Laptop. You cannot boot into the factory settings once you have configure your PC/Laptop to your personal settings, but you can boot to "Safe Mode" and use the "Administrators" account to reconfigure other Users settings. To get back to "Factory Settings" you can use the OEM "Recovery CD" or "Recovery function from your Hard drive" depending on the OEM Vendors specifications for your PC/Laptop.

**Take note, All your data will be lost when you reverting your PC/Laptop to factory settings!!!

This switch is a plug n play device. No need to configure anything for basic use.

If you want to go for advance settings, You can log into the switch via webconsole and then providing the username and passwords you can loin and do the advance configurations like VLAN settings, Speed/Duplex settings, QOS settings etc

I haven't worked with these switches but generally settings such as ip address and factory defaults can be set through the Console Interface (CLI). You will need a null-modem cable to access this and a terminal client (Windows Hyperterminal works).
