I dont know why it wont shut off....another web site said i needed a water level control switch.....thats great...but other than taping it to the front of the machine...i have no idea how to install it. is this a job for a repairman or is it a simple install?
If you determine that it is the water level switch,
by Lumpy's tests,
A fourth test, is to ensure that the plastic hose is connected at both ends between the water level sensor body and the base of the drum.
It is usually not neccessary to replace the water level switch.
Kenmore pressure switches are adjustable, the adjustment is hidden.
An internal spring stretches over time and does not react properly.
to test whether just the adjustment is required,
Continious filling is usually 1 of 3 problems. 1 - a bad water level switch. or 2 - a bad water valve or 3 - your drain hose is pushed too far down into the wall (it should only go in about 6 " so it doesn't siphon the water right back out). The easiest way to tell which it is is to start filling the washer and then unplug it. If the water continous to flow, bad valve. If it stops a bad water level switch. Kenmore have 3 main ways to get to the water level switch. 1 - there are 2 plastic caps on either end on the front of the console (the parts where all the knobs and dials are) Pop these off and there are 2 phillips screws underneath. 2 - On the back of the console where it meets the top of the machine are 2 phillips screws. 3 - there are 2 clips under the console. Insert a putty knife between the console and the top of the washer in the front to pop the clips.
I took off water control valve. tapped it and valve shout. then i cleaned with lime remover. works great. THANK YOU
The hose that pushes out the water has to be above a certain point ,or your water will keep running and emptying. I put my hose up to the tub level and presto..problem solved.
