From your description this problem is simple to understand and easy to fix. The wire harness has a loose contact from the sparking rod to the spark module. At either connection points the connection is loose so it sometimes make contact and sometimes not. So you need to disassemble the unit by removing burner and the top unit so you will find the wires and spark module under top unit. Here is the link with all above parts of your unit which will help you. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5167493&diagram_id=1320529#d1320529

OK, I took it all apart, checked all the wires, etc. None of the wires / connections appeared to be loose. Tightened them anyway. Re-assembled everything and it has not fixed the problem. Do you think it is the wire / ignighter for that particular burner?
thank you
