Phaser 740 Printing Cyan only

Tektronix 740 was printing in full color, then all of a sudden it is only printing the cyan components of the document. As if I had color separation selected. The Xerox website says I need to have it serviced. Is it something I can fix myself?

Ya know what, Bubba?  It was saying yellow toner low, then yellow toner missing.  It then gave me an error message. Error 32, Imaging Unit error. So I shut if off, reset the imaging unit-error message gone. Still wont print all 4 colors. I'll update when I receive the yellow toner.

    Thanks for the help!

The problem is usually caused by a faulty imaging device, specifically a bad cleaning blade.
Occasionally this error can also be caused by a sticking cleaning blade clutch.

In this case the grease that was used to lubricate the part becomes gummed up and the moving parts begin to stick and don't move freely as they are supposed to. This is especially common on these printers if they are not used heavily or have sat for long periods between uses.

Sometimes you can free up this gummed up grease by running the solenoid diagnostics several times over. You do this by turning off the printer and then powering up while holding buttons 1 and 3 on the front panel display. Button 1 is the exit button.

This will put your printer into service diagnostics mode. Page through the diagnostics menus until you come to the clutches and solenoids menu. Here you need to hit the start button, then scroll through till you see the test for the cleaning blade. Press start to run the test.

Let this test run for about an hour then hit the stop button and turn off and restart your printer.
If your printer is printing normally again then the sticky clutch is your problem and you will eventually need to remove it and clean off the old grease and relube it. I recommend a high quality lithium grease.

If your printer does not print correctly again after doing this test, then chances are that your cleaning blade on your imaging unit is bad and the imaging unit will need to be replaced. You can generally find them on ebay for a reasonable price.

This problem applies to both the phaser 560 and 740 models. The imaging units on both these printers are also interchangeable. So if you have a phaser 560 you can use an imaging device from a 740 and vice versa.

Error 32 is caused by a dirty accumulator cleaning blade clutch. To clean it you pretty much have to disassemble the whole printer. The clutch is located under the main board. It is a fairly lengthy process, it took me like 3-4 hours to clean it. There are some instructions on how to do it in the Internet.

It could be the toner is low on the magenta, yellow, and black or the PCU needs to be replaced.

It does need to be serviced by Xerox to find out specifically what the problem is.

Xerox 8500 phaser prints brown tint

Most likely the cyan ink is burnt. If the ink sticks are left unused (printing more black than color, this will happen.

Print the test pages for PQ troubleshooting from the control panel and examine each print. Cyan will probably have very dark streaks down the page, magenta should look normal, and yellow also will have dark stripes. You need to replace this burnt ink, and the only way is to print. From within paint (or similar accessory in other OS) Create a full page of cyan, and print about 100 - 200 pages, or until the cyan starts to clear up. Yes it is a waste, but much cheaper than a print head, Do this for yellow as well.

My Xerox Phaser 8560 is not printing the red properly. It comes out more llike a brown. The light blue comes as a teal and bubble gum pink comes out like a light pale plum. Peach comes out as beige. Is...

Solution : Print the Troubleshooting Print Quality Pages and Make Sure the Colors Are Accurate CAUTION: Use of inks other than Genuine Xerox Solid Ink may affect print quality and printer reliability. It is the only ink designed and manufactured under strict quality controls by Xerox for specific use with this printer. The Xerox Warranty, Service Agreements, and Total Satisfaction Guarantee do not cover damage, malfunction, or degradation of performance caused by use of non-Xerox supplies, or the use of Xerox supplies not specified for this printer.
To print the Troubleshooting Print Quality pages:
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Troubleshooting] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Print Quality Problems], and then press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Troubleshooting Print Quality Problems], and then press the [OK] button to print the test pages.
  4. Go through the pages and find the Light Stripes Test page.

For each color, remove an unused solid ink stick from the printer, and then use the ink stick to make a mark of color next to the corresponding color on the printed page. If the colors do not closely match, that color will need to be purged from the print head. Continue with step 6 if the colors do not closely match.
  5. NOTE: If the colors do closely match, the problem is not related to the printer's hardware. There is no hardware adjustment available on the Control Panel for calibrating individual colors.

  6. Create a document consisting of a full page (100% fill) of the color not printing correctly, or download and use one of the resource files provided in the table below. For example, if cyan ink is actually printing black, create a document that is a solid fill of cyan, or download and open the Cyan fill page provided in the table below.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to set the Print Quality mode in the print driver to "Standard" and the TekColor Correction to "None" before performing the next step. This will allow the job to purge only the problem color. Other settings may cause the printer to use a percentage of the other ink sticks.

  7. Print approximately 50 - 100 pages of the document, as necessary, until the printed color returns to normal.

Printer shows no errors

Is that problem just for that color black? sounds like you might have a bad image unit or developer. You can start out by switching the image units.. switch the Cyan image unit to the Black and the Black back to the Cyan. Print out a solid color page on the trouble shooting menu. If the Cyan prints out bad you have a bad image unit . If Black still comes out splattered then it might be the developer. We always call this company called www.Iteminc.com for support and parts instead of xerox. They have good techninicians. Almost all my answer have come from here. well good luck

Tektronix phaser 7300 uneven inking

sounds like a bad cyan developer housing. Or that somehow the housing has come out of its mounting, but I cant think how that would happen. There are some rails in the machine that may have also come loose.
You have to remove the IBT ( transfer) assembly to look into that.

Xerox phaser 8400

The first obvious question is, "Does it have blue ink/wax?" Is it displaying any errors? Have you tried the Xerox support site? They have a fantastic utility that can connect to your printer and diagnose many problems. Here's the URL for the utility: http://www.phasersmart.com/ They also have a wealth of information in their knowledge base. Here's the URL for the support page for the Phaser 8400: http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8400/sprt-enus.html Did anything happen before the blue quit printing? Have you tried running a cleaning cycle?

Photo printing

It is definite one cartridge is not running. You do one thing - 1. Write documents in MS-Word - select all - change the color to Red. Take print out. Check Printing is perfect or not.
2. Write documents in MS-Word - select all - change the color to Cyan. Take print out. Check Printing is perfect or not.
3. Write documents in MS-Word - select all - change the color to Yellow. Take print out. Check Printing is perfect or not.
I am sure when you changed the color to Cyan - it did not print Cyan or blank page you got.
So you must replace the Cyan cartridge or may be ink is not coming out through the passage. And first you have to check whether you have removed the plastic tape from the head of t he cartridge.
