Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

My JVC dvd/vcr combo machine reads 'disc error' when I try to copy onto Maxell's blank DVD+R 4.7GB, 16x DVD. Other discs read fine. Why is this?

I cannot finalize a recorded DVD disk as I cannot a menu screen. Please help.

I have the same problem. Some of my Maxell DVD+R 4.7 GB 16x 2hrs cannot play on a dvd player anymore. See, they use to, but not anymore. I don't understand this. It's terrible and very confusing. Thank you if you know.~debbie

Does that dvd recorder only record DVD-R dvds?

It should tell you in the book.

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

Have you tried a cleaner yet? It could be something as basic as needing the lens/compartment cleaned. They sell these kits at most retailers for less than $20. It is also possible them lens itself got scratched or cracked, especially of you've moved the unit recently.

Emerson dvd player won't read disc. makes spinning noise but nothing happens. disc display sometimes show spinning. only get blank screen . used cleaner disc. work at first now cleaner won't

The DVD laser pickup is at the end of life, replacement of assembly the only option, cheaper to replace the combo unit.

It could be your disc is scratched or DVD+R can't be read in the DVD player. Check for any scratches. Then pop in the disc in to your PC DVD, to see if it's readable.

I don't know if my first REQUEST for Assistance was received, at any case, I REQUESTED to find WHY my GO.VIDEO COMBO Player is NOT READING any of my blank DVD DISC( SONY, IMATION, MEMOREX, DVD+R ), IT KEEP...

If there is nothing on the disc, it will read, "no disc". It will only read and/or identify discs with media loaded or burned onto it. Your unit is a player, not a DVD+R (recorder). Can record VHS, but not discs.

DVD Player stops reading disc Error message :

usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason 1 Your disk is scratched 2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust 3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model

Lg dvd vcr combo keeps ejecting discs. genuine and copys stseing no disc present or cannot read due to disc error yet discs will play in cheap dvd player.

The optical pickup (laser) needs cleaning or replacing.

uncompatable disk?if not try cleaning the lens of the player by using a cd/dvd lens cleaner...the cd thing with the two brushes stuck onto it...with some cleaning fluid
