LG Flatron L1715S 17" LCD Monitor Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 01, 2010

Hello, I have a LG flatron L1715s screen, while i was playing on it using an xbox, the screen suddenly went black. When i try unplugging it from the VGA slot or the Power slot and replugging i get the screen working and see the desktop ( i tried it on my pc too) for less than a second, then it goes dark again. So in total, the screen went black suddenly and wont work on anything i plug it into. THanks

More likely the power supply has failed due to bad caps, see LG albums, the 1715s is almost the same as 1915s.

LG flatron L1715s screen is black osd locked??

Your video settings may actually be out of range of the monitor.
Try starting the computer in safe mode. This will provide basic video without anything fancy. Reset the settings to a lower resolution from the display option in the control panel (or simply right-click on the desktop).
If the display works then, restart the computer and then try different settings from Windows, not the monitor itself.

When i switch on, i get pink bands running down the screen

Hello there,

This could basically indicate a bad connection either with the cable or inside the monitor. Try plugging in the monitor's vga cable tightly to the vga port on the computer; you could also twist or play with the cable as if you are aligning a wire inside. If it doesnt work, try to inspect the monitor for bad capacitors or parts that need resoldering.

Moreover, if this monitor is still under warranty, it is best to take it to an authorized LG service center. Thank you for using FixYa.

Change out C202- 680 uF 25 Volt electrolytic capacitor. Replace with 25 volt or higher. Observe proper polarity when replacing cap: (-) goes to the side with the black mark, check old cap before removing it to see. I just fixed the same monitor today.

Monitor flashing

I have a similar problem with my screen, same one, 15". For a period of two years it would turn black for an instant and resume functioning. Since two weeks it only flashes the picture for an instant and then turns black again. We opened it up to check the wiring but nothing wrong there. We are 99.99% sure that the problem is in the screen itself and has nothing to do with drivers or anything else in the computer.
If you bought it less than 3 years ago and since it is probably a result of faulty construction, it should fall under warranty (by european law).
I am going to take mine to a repairman tomorrow, i will inform you wether the screen can be repaired or not.

Greetings,
Rengenier.
