My refrigerator has stopped cooling - though my freezer is still cooling just fine. Please help!! Model # is Maytag MFD2561KES

Sounds this fridge/freezer has a refrigerant leak. Eventually the freezer will also stop freezing. Need to find and fix leak and refill with refrigerant.

I suspect that the controller card is bad.

This could be a tricky problem to analyze and fix, since it seems to be an intermittent problem. On the following website is a list of things that can cause the icemaker to not make ice, and it is where you should start, as far as analyzing and troubleshooting the unit.
Of course, you should make sure your condensor coils are clean, and that the evaporator coils are not icing up.

In diagram #16, the water filter is part #3. Make sure it's not clogged, and if it is replace it with a good one.

The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component.
